"Face the Nation" is the number one Sunday morning public affairs program. The broadcast is one of the longest-running news programs in the history of television, having premiered on CBS on Nov. 7, 1954. John Dickerson is the host of "Face the Nation". He also serves as Political Director for CBS News and is a contributor to Slate magazine and its podcast The Political Gabfest. Trey Gowdy is an a bright light on a “Hill” for this past 8 years whose voice will be desperately missed ! He has made his decision for good personal reasons ...my concern is that the “good” is the enemy of the “best”. I’m sure he has spent time on his knees asking The Lord for confirmation for such a time as this! Pray for Tim Scott do pray Trey to reconsider staying!!!!

He is one of the worst losses to our country in decades ! This man has more public welfare at heart and honesty in an elected position then anyone I can remember......He is also one of the smartest speakers and Americans we got in DC and him leaving makes me sad.....I would love to see him run for POTUS after Trump retires from office......

I've long been undecided about Trey Gowdy. Although he talks well I wondered if he was just another hypocrite but the last few days have shown for all to see that Trey Gowdy is a role model for all politicians to aspire to! May God protect him and light his way!

I would love to see Trey Gowdy our Attorney General. Jeff Sessions is a nice man but is not up to the task. I admire Trey's honesty. He decided not to run for Congress for another term because Politics is just about winning, but to Trey, the process matters. The end does NOT justify the means in Trey's opinion, which is totally opposite of anything the Clinton's have ever done.

Once upon a time the people in Congress never intended it to become their “Career” They sereved their country, then went home to their life. Many say “TERM LIMITS” then when someone does actually return home to their life and family, SO many “silly” opinions of the motive behind the choice! I often feel we have all been driven to “madness” Thank you Mr. Gowdy for your time spent and the job you have done. Thank you as well for making the choice to return to your profession of choice. Enjoy and believe in the blessings that await you!

Regardless of the environment, you can count on Trey Gowdy to be respectful and factual. If you debate him with facts and supportive evidence, he listens intently and NEVER interrupts like so many who appear in the media. Also, his respect for women is an example for others to emulate and his manners make me proud of my Southern heritage. Mr. Gowdy, you will be missed in your former leadership position.

Impressive. If this is really the way men and women of Congress think behind the scenes (when they are not retiring) the world might have a chance of regaining confidence in the US post Trump. Meanwhile we are saddened more and more by the behaviour or a man who doesn’t have the morals or standards of a 3 year old. 2020 can’t come too soon. Please stay Rep Gowdy.
