I hate to beg to differ with you. But I am from Washington state around the greys harbour area, which weyerhaeuser has lots and lots of sections of land for logging. And I worked for a company that was a main builder of logging roads for weyerhaeuser, and I ran cat, a D-8L, and have built miles and miles upon miles of log road for them,, and the roads I built looked at least the same, or I think way better. I have loads of citations from weyco for the roads I built. A mainline had at least a 20 to 24 foot running width, and spur roads of that, at least 14 to 16-18 feet wide. With ditches pulled and lots of turnouts and arounds, upon which Warren Sorensen, weycos roadbuilding supervisor, choose that my roads were finished to the point that our grader was not required to grade the roads and pull the ditches, as my roads looked like they were finished with one.

@@brianmakoviney4521 that interesting, Ill to look up some videos on the roads out west. I assumed they just didn't maintain a permanent road system because they didn't log in the same place as often as they do here since they still have so much good timber available (the timber properties around here might as well be farms), or the land wasn't as interconnected (all of western Maine and a large piece of northern NH is owned by timber companies), but I guess it makes sense there would be permanent infrastructure there too.
