Let's take a look at one of the most anticipated releases of the year, the new Receiver Ready 67" Extra 260 from Extreme Flight. Is it an overhyped plane or is it really as good as people keep saying?
Let's find out in this video, where we'll walk through unboxing, assembly, flight review and setup.

Great video, and I especially like the view of the Tx showing the stick movements. This REALLY is an ARTF model, and, as I now have nowhere to build, it is ideal for me - I'll be ordering one.

@juan - thanks so much for creating these videos - especially the the how-to 3d videos! Question for you - what do you think is the best general setup for new-to-3d pilots when it comes to Expo and throttle curves? I know each plane is different - but if you could recommend 1 setup to use in all 60 inch - to - 70 inch planes for experienced pilots that are new to 3d, what do you think would be best? I was planning on starting with the following: Rate 1 - 75% throws with ailerons and 80% throws with Elev/Rudder Ailerons = 45% expo Elev = 45% Expo Rudder = 40% Expo Rate 2 - 100% Throws all around Ailerons = 55% Expo Elev = 50% Expo Rudder = 45% Expo Any thoughts on this? Also I have no idea if I should keep the standard throttle setup or to add a throttle curve. Would love your feedback!

I'm glad you're enjoying these videos! Regarding your question: first at all, keep in mind that different radio brands have different expo curves, so 60% on Spektrum is not the same as 60% on FrSky or Jeti (in my experience, 60% spektrum is similar to about 80% Frsky). For somebody new to 3D, the main change I would do from my setup is reducing the aileron throws a lot. For example, I use about 38 degrees on a typical PilotRC/EF plane. For somebody newer to 3D, I'd use between 25 and 30 degrees. Beginners to 3D don't need the extreme roll rates used in rifle rolls or for quick stops or direction changes in rolling harriers, and with 25/30 degrees you still have all the control you need during basic 3d maneuvers like harriers. I often see people new to 3D with way too much aileron deflection, then they try a rolling harrier and they lose control right away. For elevator and rudder, about 45 degrees on each would be a good start. From there, I would just set whatever expo you need to be able to do precision aerobatics comfortably (i.e. slow rolls, point rolls...). After that, you can choose between using a single rate for everything, or adding a 'precision aerobatics' rate, where you drastically reduce elevator rate. I still would want most/all of the rudder for precision aerobatics. For ailerons, I personally like a good amount too, for fast point rolls or snap rolls. I would personally don't do the 75% rates approach you suggested above. I think you'd end up with too much elevator for precision aerobatics/normal flying, but not enough for any 3D maneuver. I hope that makes sense. For throttle curve, my personal preference has always been trying to keep it as simple and linear as possible. I do very little here. I mainly put effort in the mechanical geometry (similar to what you would do with servo to any other flight surface, ensuring that I use as much travel as possible in the servo, and the movement of the carb arm is mostly linear).

This is amazing!!!!@@skyboundrc Thank you so much for the great info! I have already changed my aileron throws to 30 degrees and already noticed more control today when trying it out, which is counter-intuitive as I would have thought more throw = more control. Great tip! So I am using a Spektrum ix20 for a transmitter and fly mostly an Extreme Flight Extra NG 60 inch and Pilot RC Extra NG 60 inch. Surprisingly they do fly different. I also just got the 60 inch Gamebird V2 by EF and the EF Raven. For the 60 inch planes which I mostly fly - do you think a standard 55 on expo makes sense, or would you go up to 60 or down a bit for learning 3D? Buth an increase and a decrease still feels good to me, so I could go either way here but would like to start at an expo range that someone like yourself recommends so I know I am at least comparable to someone that knows what they are doing! Thank you again!

@@riskninja8194 using 55 or 60% expo (in Spektrum) should work great as a starting point for a 60". From there, you can tweak things to your preference. When I'm looking at expos, the main thing for me is to feel like I feel comfortable near the center for precision aerobatics (i.e. slow rolls, point rolls...). If the plane still feels too sensitive, I increase expo. If I feel the plane too dead around the center, I decrease it.

Now that you have tested both batteries SMC 4400 and 6200, which one would you get if you didn't have either? Or any other in between? or other brand?
@skyboundrc
@skyboundrc 8 ай бұрын
I'd definitely go 6200 for my flying style (I don't like planes too tail heavy). The plane is plenty light, so total weight is not noticeable. Regarding CG, I like the 6200 better, as with the 4400 still feels a bit too tail heavy for me. With 6200, I like the CG better.

I'd love to, but unless somebody nearby has one of those and is willing to let me try it for a bit, it will be tricky (can't buy one of each plane to do a review).. Ether that or Extreme Flight/Skywing are up for sending/lending one for doing a review.

Quality and fitment issues are no stranger to extreme flight. I’ve built three models of their this year and ALL three of them have had serious issues all of which EF reps refused to remedy.

I haven't had a ton of planes from EF, but this was my first time having any kind of QC issue. My 2019 104" Extra and 2023 105" Slick came with zero issues.

Totally agree, their customer service is horrible unless you live in the southern USA anywhere else they are just plain rude. I used to only fly them and 3D hobby planes, but now I’ve moved to AJ Aircraft. Andrew is the reason 3DHS became what they became with the 89” AJ slick & he still designs the best flying planes IMO. The fit & finish are incredible and his customer service is 2nd to none.

@@fierceflyer5 completely agree I just tried to order a plane from extreme flight as of today and they wanted $375.00for shipping and it clearly states $175 so I went round and round with them via email . I think they had a hissy fit and they gave up and on top of that nobody ever answers the phone and you're EXTREMELY lucky to even get a reply back on email I personally feel they should shut the doors turn the lights out and go home and let confident people take that company over and straighten it out.. .
