Loved the video! I had dreams of doing the same thing several years back, but wouldn't have had enough local customers to support a business, and was too fearful of any potential legal repercussions for selling unlicensed games / roms. I am glad that there are businesses that have thrown that same caution to the wind and have done this. Good reputable businesses such as this only helps the emulation / preservation scene. These are some BEAUTIFUL cabinets! Keep on doing the good work eXtreme! And hello from Janesville WI.

Around 15 years ago I purchased a 4 Player pedestal system from Dave the company was called Dream Home Arcade back in the day. Now it’s EHA. 4 year ago I was having issues with the system. I called up and spoke with Dave. He walked me through most of the things over the phone. A few things didn’t work. He told me if I could send him the system bd and hard drive he will fix everything. I sent him the system bd and hard drive. I got my parts back in 2 days. Everything was fixed and working great. Dave didn’t charge me for everything. Dave is Class Act to deal with.

The owner Dave is a great guy. I just want to tell you what he did. I purchased a 4 player Pedestal arcade 2nd hand from the original owner. They had it made from Dave over 12 years ago. My system has only 1 Hard Drive. That’s how old it is. All the new system uses 2 drives. So now I have the arcade now it’s 6 months later. I have a issue with the motherboard. I call Dave up he walked me through some of the setting. We couldn’t get it to work. He told me to send him the motherboard and he will fix it. I shipped out the motherboard to him. I got it back in a few days fixed at NO COST. I just paid for shipping to him. That was it. Now I know he stands by his products. I wanted to add joysticks to my arcade. He gave me the websites he orders his supplies from. Very helpful on the phone and never rushes you off the phone. The build quality is above Excellent and Phone support. Just a pleasure to deal with. I’m going to upgrade my system and purchase the 2 Hard Drives from Dave. If your looking to purchase a home arcade system Dave and his guys are the best.

Incredible product made by Extreme no doubt. If you have the space and the money then full steam ahead. I had a deposit down and my total was over 7k. I ultimately decided to change my mind and went with a Recroommasters 32" cabinet with an Arcade-one cpu build inside and I am VERY happy with my decision. All in I was at $2200 instead of 7k. Is it the same? No chance but its closer than you would think.

Nothing in these cabinets is worth 7 grand . They are over priced and don’t even use top of the line buttons. You absolutely made the best decision every by buying a extreme arcade. I know two people who made the mistake of buying these machines and barely any of the games ever even work. Both of them had to send their drives out to more reputable companies to provide updated images with the correct software so they games all would work correctly

I have one of these cabinets and the build is beautiful. However, there are a lot of games that just don’t work, perform well, or just a PITA to get to configure with the controls. Some even crash the computer and freezes up, even after I sent in my original boards and had them updated. If you’re good with computers, then yes you should enjoy the MAME cabinet. If you’re not and you’re buying one thinking all of the most popular games will work out of the box, then you’re going to be disappointed.

Im planning to get me a 2 player megacade. Just watching other videos of games I played when I was young, I want one. BTW, What type of Arcade is at the 4:36 mark? Pedestal? And if so does it come with a monitor?
@SirReptitious
@SirReptitious 3 жыл бұрын
Yes, that's the pedestal style. And no, the whole point of buying a pedestal instead of a megacade is that you save a lot of money by using your current TV instead. Also, it takes up a LOT less room in your house which is great if you live in a small place. I'm thinking of building a pedestal for my nephew. I will do the computer part and my brother in law will do the cabinet part since he has all the tools for it. My nephew has been wanting to get a PS5 since last year, and while this isn't a PS5, I think he would be very happy to get a 2 player pedestal to hook up to his TV. He lives in an apartment, so there is no way he can fit an megacade in there.

Not as extreme as you may think. For most emulation you don't need one of the bleeding-edge video cards. You do need to have SOME horsepower for emulating the more recent systems like PS3, but even then I would bet a Geforce 1070 would be plenty. Yes, legally speaking these systems are 100% pirated. I am honestly surprised that they haven't been sued out of business. There are TONS of chinese companies that sell little emulation boxes full of pirated roms which doesn't surprise me at all since IP laws have never been enforced by china ever. But it would be easy for Atari, Sega, Nintendo, etc. to sue these guys here in America. I guess it's not worth it to them. There ARE a handful of emulation arcade decks that are officially licensed around, but it really seems that the companies that own the rights to the old games don't see enough value in them. Which is great for everyone that wants to buy or build a system like this!

Those 1up machines are toys for kids IMHO. Pointless to waste the money and space on a machine that plays only 1 or a few games at most. And there are already places that sell just the drives for people that are willing to build their own cabinet or don't want to wait 9 months. One I can think of is hyperarcadesystems, but I'm pretty sure there are others. A simple web search will tell you everything you need to know...

SirReptitious I would 100% agree with u but with a few modifications you could have yourself a pc based arcade that plays thousands of games. SirReptitious No I meant you can mod them by using a hdmi vga controller board & link it to a pc. The pc will sit in the back of the lower section of the cabinet. The pc I’m using can run games like nfl blitz flawlessly. Affordable but it’s powerful enough to get the job done.
@PinballMayhem
@PinballMayhem 3 жыл бұрын
I see your guys points, i have seen 1UP mod kits to add a RPI and change screen, plus don't forget the wrap us known to wear,, buttons and joy sucks and also the CPO wears the art out quick. And you still have a 1/2 inch thick MDF cabinet. Personally you would be better off starting with a empty arcade cabinet or building something unique. Using a 1up as a foundation is not getting you ahead. I believe the monitors may need a special controller too, not a standard hookup. in the end its all Effort/cost/quality. In the end Extreme's product are not for the person that can or wants to do it them self. If you can, power to you and go build an awesome system. Have fun and remember that's what this is all about.

Possibly the worst retail experience I have ever had. Waited 9 months for a $4K brick that was never going to work. Great customer is not found here. I’m glad many customers are happy with there arcade cabinets, I am not one of them.

@@tom11zz884 The tech support was great. Adam was very patient and understanding because he knew that I was not familiar with Hyperspin. When the owner came back from vacation he was the exact opposite. He was not patient and within a span of 10 minutes he offered to buy back my Gamebox. I decided to rid myself of a system that I waited nearly 9 months to receive. It was D.O.A. Upon arriving. The good news is that I received all of my money back. To everyone that has a system that works, great. My experience was a complete nightmare.

@@crazykong1967 Thats unfortunate, but at least he gave you all your money back. Other companies would skirt around the issues and refuse to give you a refund back.

It's my understanding he is referring to supported games and systems. They are selling the hardware/software platform, and its the buyers choice to add what games they want and or may have elsewhere. the system provides an easy way to add them i understand.

I don't know how you get around using copyright art images for graphics like starwars and others if the games are free and you do it or someone else does, the games are more of a grey area that I don't think much will ever be done about it. But copyright art I don't understand. Apparently he knows what he is doing as he has been in business for 20 years.

None of this matters because I'm willing to bet they charge more than Arcade 1up does. So why buy one of these when you can buy and customize an Arcade 1up.

Yes and no. Yes you can 100% build one for way less than they charge. But not everyone has the tools to build one, or has the skills, be it the carpentry skills or the computer skills. So it's like anything else in the world; you pay extra for an expert to build it. It's not over-priced if you are incapable or unwilling to build it, since if you can't or won't build it there is no way you can ever own one unless you buy one...

I completely agree SirReptitious. And when you build one for cheaper, you can take shortcuts they can not. Like used TV or monitors, used controls. Everything in their cabinets is new.
