Looks like an excellent trip. I just switched to the GFC for my 80 series and love the change. The 80 specific mount brackets are killer, and the integrated design lightens the roof load substantially. Allen's super fortunate he picked up his 80 early pandemic. Prices have since gone bananas for the old girls.

Awsome to see the Volvo C303 or TGB11 also called, I used to drive just one like that here in Sweden when I did military service. But it was full of radios, RL car, RadioLänk bil, in Swedish. Miss that car!

That volvo needs more dampening, it bounces way to much. More dampening more stability.

Agreed! Finding shocks to fit it are tough. We also changed out the springs with some custom ones that are too soft. Hope we can get some new springs that are a bit stiffer along with some MUCH better shocks.

Rooftop tents that are actually comfortable to sleep in. 3"/4" pads. Memory foam. If I pay a couple of G for a tent, it has to be a lot more comfortable than sleeping on the ground.

GFC is putting you back more than a couple G...BUT they do fit 3" pads.

Watching that van on that first obstacle got my heart racing, earlier this year I was a passenger in a Pinzgauer in a similar situation that rolled. Not something I would care to repeat, haha.

"There is nothing like wheeling in the alpine" - I love those areas too... its so sad for us here in Montana that really we only have access to these Apline areas, mid July to mid Sept... and after that the trails are snowed in. It's a delicate world up there- perma frost and wild flowers! You always do such a great job with the drone too! Best ever! I crash my drone... or it randomly falls out of the sky...lol. Keep up the great videos!

for the C303 - you can fit the lower ratio C304 diffs - this would give you (OEM specs) 4000rpm at 80kph whereas this is your current (OEM spec) revs to 100kph - really need to get the wieght off the roof

With a winch, extra fuel, satellite communicator, and lots of experience, you're pretty good going solo. Probably not a good bike trail though.

Shaun, everytime I see one of the "local" videos, I wish I had knees that work, or had done wheeling like this when I was able to walk, hike, scout terrain. We did the Whipsaw trail in a VW Baja Bug when I was a kid, with my pop (at least he says we did, in the mid 70's I dont remember) , when I got back into wheeling, in the late 90's I was back here on the Island, but I was more into Flying from remote locations to even more remote locations in my Gyro, and sometimes back again. my 4x4 then, was a Ford F150 pickup, with a trailer for my Gyro. I was thinking about looking for *something* I can afford, but I think I am just going to fix my Envoy, and retire from wheeling

Watching that Volvo go up those hills pulling the front wheels off the ground is like watching a 2dr Jeep do the same thing and pull the wheels off the ground. He needs more weight on the front of that Volvo. Needs to bolt on a metal weight bar under the front bumper anywhere from 500 - 1000 lbs will help it. Back in the 90’s we did that with Tow trucks to keep the front end down when towing a vehicle that was too heavy.
