Two hour tidal rise during Spring tide phase, early clips are the Ridge Sands in the Severn Estuary, the final clips are the former entrance to the Glos Sharpness Canal, now blocked and entry is via nearby Sharpness Dock.

going to kayak river Wye and learned below Bigsweir bridge river is tidal and can be very dangerous especially below Tintern. For me below Tintern is no go. For experienced kayaker it is possible but have to leave Tintern no later than one hour after high water and travel down without stopping. Guide says avoid going down below Chepstow. Currents in Severn estuary are extremely dangerous. To be honest I wasn't aware of this stuff...

If you ever visited Canada's Atlantic Provinces, you'll find that the Bay of Fundy area are much higher. In fact, parts of the Bay of Fundy area, including the Minas Basin, Wagobagitk (Cobequid) Bay, Chignecto Bay, and Petitcodiac River can experience tides as high as 20 metres.

Very interesting, but height isn't the only thing that kills. This river is notoriously well known for killing people.

Why was it so necessary to Fence a Dock, thus making it Unusable, when the potential Danger of the site is so immediately obvious. Have We dumbed down so far that people need this level of protection. Remove the Fence, restore the Dock.
