Dirtman707 It’s got to be some kind of administrative officer, because I noticed that their interior mount light bar the red was even flashing, while still being steady burn. Which is something that CHP has never done. So yeah your probably right.

That vehicle is definitely compliant. A steady burning "bright as helll" red light. If only they could understand standards and uniformity here, 7,300 miles away in the Philippines.....

Awesome Catch! I am thinking that is the Area Captain! No exempt plate indicates a Take home unit ! in 1995 Napa Areas Captain had a unmarked baby blue 95 caprice with with full patrol slicktop lighting the only one like it in the fleet! He was a working boss:) As for the Expedition a few are still around but the Tahoe is fast replacing them.

I get expeditions here all the time, but the unmarked are super rare. Only ever seen one and it was a Tahoe

It is sneaky, but keep in mind cars like these are not used for traffic enforcement in California, in fact its illegal for that to be the purpose of unmarked police cars in California. The rest of the country should copy imo.

Damn even the plates have normal registration and aren't "CA Exempt" this thing is truely undercover lol. The only way of knowing its a FPIU is the Rims, matte black trunk stripe, and the mirrors having no turn signals. If you have really good eyes, the foglight police lights.

All CHP Area Commanders get take home unmarked cars. At this point, every commander typically has a newer model charger, Explorer or Taurus in various colors. Also some specialized units in the CHP use these unmarked cars. I remember one of my friends who is is an Area Commander used to have a silver crown vic years ago, now he has a blue 2016 charger.

Wow...haven’t seen an unmarked FPIU from CHP yet. I work with disguise installs and the only thing I want to know is where the lowband antenna is on that. It’s gotta be a boss or a specialized unit used for task force work or something.

its not responding. its advising traffic lol. just an fyi code 3 refers to like lights and sirens and moving traffic while trying to urgently get somewhere.

Through Donner pass on I-80 mostly CHP vehicles is a Chevy Tahoe and on scales you’ll see only Dodge Ram and Ford F-250 nothing is rare here, it is just depends where you live in California

The unmarked vehicles are only used for higher ranking officers like captain or above

That's not a FPIU !!! That's a civilian explorer upfitted with police equipment. No FPIU came with roof racks

Maybe. Because theres already emergency personnel on scene and they already have the situation under control. The responding units are for traffic control/investigative purposes. Could you not hear the Explorer telling people to turn around? You're a clown.

No, that’s definitely CHP. Lighting pattern and lighting setup matches and CHP has some unmarked vehicles in their fleet. Reasonable to assume it is from CHP.
