Great step-by-step video for the OLED shell. I thought the joycons were the most tedious part of the mod, but the backplate for the OLED takes it to the next level. I just recently installed the splattering paint shell on my OLED, and it's very cool! I love all your products and content :)

Nice tutorial! My stand is a little flimsy compared to the stock one.. Maybe change up the background song every here and then, same song for 90 minutes makes my ears bleed haha

At 50:14, I'm having a problem where the clips doesn't sit perfectly in so they're still visible when I place the backplate in even when i try to pull on the bottom shell. So I can't even screw the rails back because the rails holes don't align enough. What can I do? I havn't seen anyone with this problem online

Hello! I've watched several OLED backplate swap videos now and I'm very curious. If the kickstand and the hinges are connected to the backplate and it all comes off in one piece, why does everyone always remove the little bitty covers over the hinges first? This could be a silly question but I would really like to know.

Because you’re changing the hinge too so it’ll have to come off regardless

would i be able to get a custom order of the xbox 1914 model button replacements (with bumpers triggers d pad) in chrome gold? my controllers bumper just broke and i thought it would look cool with gold and this would be a good time to customize it but sadly the 1914 model is the only one without gold, so would it be possible?

@@jeremykops the motherboard got damaged unfortunately. I sent it to service but the replacement would have cost more than a new switch, so I ended up buying a new switch. Totally not worth trying this, next time I’ll just use foil from stickie game or something like that

@mo.na.x I changed mine using this video but skipped the step where you change the panel where your charger port is after reading your comment for fear I'd damage something inside. I'm so sorry that happened to you

@@jeremykops that’s what I did with my new switch as well, I left out the bottom part so that I didn’t have to take out the internal parts. I guess you learn from your mistakes 😅

Correct, you don't have to change the bottom if you don't care for that part.

There is not enough space to add LED into the Switch console, no matter if it's OG or OLED. Better to do it on Joycons

So i have an oled switch just like the the top plate crack and both the power and volume button are gone so us the rubber can Cave man point me to the replcement. I got the new ahell in but they don't provide the rubbers

Just finished installing this on my Switch and a few notes. This will take the average Joe SEVERAL hours to install this completely. Next, the little door that covers the cartridge does not stay closed properly (at least not on my kit). Next, Several of the screw holes were stripped in various parts of both the switch itself and on both controllers replacement shell plastic parts. Which means when you were reassembling parts, the screw just turned and turned never tightening. Luckily this was only 3-4 screws (of maybe 50 total) so it’s not terrible, but should be noted. Lastly, the XABC and ⬇️⬆️➡️ buttons jiggle in the joycons. Maybe because of some stripped holes not tightening everything up properly? Overall a decent shell replacement but could be better because of the issues previously stated.

Can I install the back with the original bottom piece? Instead of taking all the wiring apart?

Not OP but it's possible to just install the backplate without disconnecting the wires and the motherboard, etc.

yea that's what I did for now ill get to the bottom piece eventually but it's a lot more work than the back plate!

Yeah it’s piss, you need a smaller screw head, if it’s phillips, I’ve done it before, you need to put a shit ton of pressure onto it when you screw it out

They had to send me a new screwdriver I stripped the old one finally got mine installed but I didn't worry about installing the bottom plate to much risk

I'm having the same issue. Ironically I'm just having issues with the kickstand. I've managed the joy cons just fine. Beyond irritating.

I still haven't found a screwdriver 😭 i ended up stripping the kickstand screws lol so be careful i'm going to use a drill bit but haven't had the time to work on it

How were the joycons ruined? This joycon disassembly method is done without disconnecting most of the cables. The other method you can try is disconnecting the cables and removing the parts individually. It's extra steps but it's definitely "safer". For first timers that can be a good option.

I’ve change both pairs of my joy cons and the first time was harder than the second. I didn’t ruin anything though. As long as you follow the directions, nothing should be messed up. Definitely as a first time you shouldn’t try and remove all the cables though.

I had the same issue with the right buttons specifically. Did your right trigger button housing pop off? You can buy a replacement button on Amazon for like $7.

Your switch will NOT fit in the dock after doing this. They dont really warn you about that. So, if you like playing docked, this mod is not for you.

What do you mean? Mine gets docked so why would I say it can't be docked? Is your USB port aligned correctly?

@@im.a.caveman The plastic kickstand is way thicker than the OEM one and won't fit. Are you sure you have the OLED model with the original dock? It's definitely too thick with this shell and scratches in the dock.
