Had a mental check day not long after this. Not a bad thing but certainly taxing. Projecting hard stuff is ...well ... hard. My biggest challenge right now is managing my pace. I can't throw myself on hard stuff all the time but I have goals set before the end of the year. All good in the end but in the moment, it's pretty tough.

I'm sure you're much better than the rest of us, name dropping Smith like that. I mean, I wouldn't dare call a Smith 5.11 soft by J-Tree standards...Sure, lots of other people would, but I sure wouldn't dare, oh no.

Dude, here in central Texas if you go out to Reimer's Ranch, there's an entire section of the crag called Middle Earth wall. It's awesome. And second to that, we have another spot (Monster Rock) where everything is ghoulish, alien, monster themed and there are a few Tolkien routes thrown in. "Riders Of Rohan", "Tom Bombadil", etc.

Come to New Hampshire, cathedral ledge has The Bridge of Kaza Dume, the Mordor wall, Forest of Fanghorn, and plenty of others. Chances are if it has a Tolkien name the root is probably also a sandbag.

About 10c ?? Who says 13 ?
@FirstPersonBeta
@FirstPersonBeta 3 жыл бұрын
The guide. But seriously, the first half (to the big rest ledge is probably 11d/12a by itself (though some can get an awkward no hands stance that may bump the grade down for the first half). Then off the ledge is probably a v4 followed by easy mid 10 ish climbing to the crux in the dihedral, which is just plain hard. While the climbing after that can be tricky, I wouldn't call it hard, but definitely the position is what made me fall in love with this route.
