Hey Everyone! Thank you for being here today. I’m so happy you are here with me today to see what I created.
Today’s piece is inspired by: crystals and agate designs using Metallic Colours with a POP of Blue Green - using only Pebeo brands. I wanted to create an agate crystal design - it’s started off as an eye and I stretched it out to agate.
Technique used: Open Cup
What I learnt: be open to the process; sometimes just go with it.
Colour palette: Winsor & Newton Mars Black for the base. All other colours are by Pebeo: Iridescent Silver, Gold, Copper and Blue Green .
Time Stamps: If you want to go to a specific section of the video, here are the main segments:
00.30 Layering the base
01.10 Open cup layering of paint
01.54 First lift
03.40 look at the eye!
05.45 Tilt and composition
08.10 Agate Crystal
09.30 Look at the dry version
Hair/Blow Dryer: I currently use the Remington D3010 and always use the cool setting unless I specify otherwise.
I have a video that shows you how I mix my paints for various techniques: • Fluid Acrylic Pouring ...
Please like and subscribe to my channel and hit that bell if you are enjoying what you see. Its FREE for you to do and it really helps me grow as an artist and helps me reach more people that may like to see what I do. It also notifies you when I release a new video. Have you access to "liquid art panels"? They are board instead of canvas, with a very small lip to catch the paint when you tilt. That hard back will help you preserve the next eye that you do (though there was still the fear of cracking). You got good enough pictures of the eye that you could probably extract the best frame and do prints. That is a spectacular creation - from beginning to middle to end.. 👁

@MarkJRatcliffeArt
@MarkJRatcliffeArt 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you Pam. I was so tempted to leave it and see however…. Because there was a large/thick puddle of paint in the middle there was a high risk it would have cracked or split, that’s due to the paint on the surface drying quicker than the paint within the puddle, that’s why it’s so important to get consistent layers within creations. Thanks so much for your wonderful feedback 🙏😊

Hi Mark. I tried making an orange sphere filled with cells. The sphere is similar to 3:21, but after one minute the cells stretch and create an unwanted shade. The sphere also stretches and does not remain round. Do you think the problem is the black background too liquid??
@MarkJRatcliffeArt
@MarkJRatcliffeArt Жыл бұрын
I would say that the base color was too fluid and a different consistency and that you probably had too much of it too. When layering your base color ensure it’s consistent across the base (no puddles or no more paint in one area than the other). As you layer your Color’s on top the base will spread and if that is uneven it will drag the top color to a space of even proportions so I think the base would have been your issue
