The single-decker Arriva bus crashed into the Halifax branch in Darlington, County Durham shortly before 11am, trapping the woman underneath. The bus's driver, a 52-year-old man, has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. Passengers on the bus say it suddenly 'jolted' forward after it was parked at a stop. It is believed the woman who died was walking along the pavement when she was hit.
