In this video I will show you how to use ORCA livecoding software. We will cover everything from connecting your midi device to creating several different types of sequencers. Grab you favorite groovebox and lets make some music! Part 2: Building a tracker! • Learn ORCΛ Livecoding ...
ORCA does not make any sounds, ORCA is a music sequencer. It works with MIDI, UDP, and OSC messages.

From Hundredrabbits:
Orca is an esoteric programming language designed to quickly create procedural sequencers, in which every letter of the alphabet is an operation, where lowercase letters operate on bang, uppercase letters operate each frame.
This application is not a synthesizer, but a flexible livecoding environment capable of sending MIDI, OSC & UDP to your audio/visual interfaces, like Ableton, Renoise, VCV Rack or SuperCollider.

ORCA is amazing. I just started to play with it and it's really a joy. The only issue is the clock. If I sequnce the MIDI out inside my DAWs (Reaper or Bitwig) the MIDI notes are a bit accelerated. If I set both ORCA and the DAW to 120bpm, recorded MIDI events appear as if they were triggered at 120.5/120.6bpm, which prevents a perfect alignment with the other tracks in the DAW
@SteeveBjornson
@SteeveBjornson 2 жыл бұрын
have you synced the clock between the DAW and ORCA or are you just running each independently?
@GiovanniAllegri
@GiovanniAllegri 2 жыл бұрын
@@SteeveBjornson using ORCA as the MIDI clock source I have some jitter. In general, with Web MIDI, I can get a stable clock only if I run a loop and check the timing against performance.now. But this is prohibtive in terms of performance.. I guess a really stable clock, based on setTimeout (even if from inside a worker as ORCA does) is impossible to achieve at the moment.
@SteeveBjornson
@SteeveBjornson 2 жыл бұрын
@@GiovanniAllegri how about reversing it and using your DAW's clock as the source? I'm curious if this might actually be an OS/communication issue...
@GiovanniAllegri
@GiovanniAllegri 2 жыл бұрын
@@SteeveBjornson not much better. In this midi I recorded a sequence from ORCA (simply a D with a MIDI out with default duration) at 110bpm and 60bpm: drive.google.com/file/d/1uBblZwsoKooohodGoqd-zd6xHRj85hN0/view?usp=sharing. As you can see there's some jitter. I guess being on Widnows and havint to use the loopMIDI virtual ports add further dealys and hiccups.
