The best way to show multiple HDMI sources on two screens is by using an HDMI matrix. This video shows the connections, how to setup, and use-cases for the EZCOO 4X2 HDMI matrix to share several HDMI sources on two monitors, TVs, or projectors.
I include a product review of the EZCOO 4x2 HDMI Matrix/Scaler and demonstrate use-cases for displaying various HDMI sources such as gaming consoles, Blu-ray/DVD players, PCs, and more on two displays in various mix and match combinations. After watching this you will know everything you need to connect multiple HDMI sources to two screens using the EZCOO 4X2 HDMI matrix. If you have multiple HDMI sources and displays to connect and share, this affordable HDMI matrix from EZCOO is how to make it happen.
Thanks for watching!

I bought one of these a few months ago so I could split off Dolby Atmos and send it to my receiver while I send Dolby Vision to my TV. It worked well for a few days, then after that point would only send either Atmos out or DV out from my Oppo UDP-203, but not both simultaneously. I replaced all my HDMI cables with new HDMI 2.1 certified versions but the problem persisted (using a Roku Ultra, I have no issues). Ultimately the issue seems to be with handshake issues inherent in HDMI. While my use case probably doesn’t match those of most of your viewers, it’s worth mentioning that sometimes the HDMI format causes issues in equipment that one wouldn’t expect.

Thanks for sharing this. I don't use mine for your application regularly, but I did test it without issue. That said, cables are notorious for not meeting their advertised specs which I believe has alot to do with all the HDMI handshake issues everyone experiences. LTT did a video on this where they purchased far more cables than any of us could afford and then tested them with a cable tester. I was disappointed, but not really surprised at how many cables failed to meet spec, notably when pushed to the upper bandwidth requirements (even this was only short term testing). I've had cables "go bad" after working for a while - sometimes I was able to trace the issue back to rfi/emi and occasionally adding ferrite cores helped. Not sure if your issue is related to cables or interference, but it is worth checking out... High spec cables have let me down before.

I think it’s ultimately a compatibility problem. The Roku does the same job without error, and the UHD Blu Ray player also does the job as long as I bypass the EZcoo (it has 2 HDMI outputs). By the way, I really like your videos so far. You happen to occupy a very specific niche that interests me, being the crossover of older video game consoles and DIY audio/video production. I also like that your videos are generally pretty succinct. It makes them more easily digestible…a nice low price of entry!

Sir, I have a multipart follow-up question for you, since you’ve used two of these and you also speak English. Have you successfully utilized the optical out, and have you successfully changed the EDID settings by interfacing with a PC? My receiver ended up dying yesterday so I’m now trying to use this matrix to split the audio off via the optical out to an older receiver. The problem is, it doesn’t seem to be sending an optical signal out (I’ve tested other optical devices on the receiver so I can verify it’s a problem with the EZCOO.) The manual pamphlet is poorly written, but it seems I can turn the optical output on and off using EDID functionality through interfacing with a PC. But the interface is reminiscent of 1995 Windows functionality and the English description is apparently beyond my comprehension. What’s your experience been with this?
@askdrtk
@askdrtk 2 жыл бұрын
Great question! Yes, I have used the optical out with PC, PS4, the Portta Component to HDMI Converter, and Blu-ray HDMI sources. Depending on what source(s) you are using, ensure they are setup to send audio over HDMI after you have connected them to the matrix (the setting on your source can sometimes change after connecting it to the matrix depending on what monitors you have connected to the matrix). Your source reads information about video and audio modes (among other info) using EDID based upon the HDMI monitors you have connected to the matrix. First try using the DIP switch set to Test Mode (1-on, 2-4 off) and see if you get sound. If you still don't have sound, continue on to the steps below. If your receiver doesn't support the mode your source is reading from your monitor(s), the receiver will not produce audio. This is where the matrix allows you to configure specific EDID information to be shared with your source(s). The problem you are having often occurs when your receiver is pre-4K and you are using 4K monitors on the matrix HDMI outputs. In this case, the default EDID information could be unrecognizable by your receiver and no sound will be heard. In addition to the common EDID audio settings that can be configured using the dip switches, the EZCOO matrix allows you to select from among 16 specific Audio/Video modes. These are the available modes: 1-1080P60Hz_2CH(PCM)_HDR 2-1080P60Hz_6CH_HDR 3-1080P60Hz_8CH_HDR 4-1080P_3D_2CH(PCM)_HDR 5-1080P_3D_6CH_HDR 6-1080P_3D_8CH_HDR 7-4K30Hz_3D_2CH(PCM)_HDR 8-4K30Hz_3D_6CH_HDR 9-4K30Hz_3D_8CH_HDR 10-4K60Hz(Y420)_3D_2CH(PCM)_HDR 11-4K60Hz(Y420)_3D_6CH_HDR 12-4K60Hz(Y420)_3D_8CH_HDR 13-4K60Hz(Y444)_3D_2CH(PCM)_HDR 14-4K60Hz(Y444)_3D_6CH_HDR 15-4K60Hz(Y444)_3D_8CH_HDR 16- USER EDID Find a mode that is compatible with your receiver. You can then use the control/update tool available from the EZCOO website easycoolav.com/tmp/madeimg/MX42PRO%20Update%20and%20setting%20kit.rar to set the specific EDID mode for the matrix audio output. It downloads as a rar file that will need to be extracted using a tool such as 7-zip. Connect the matrix to your PC first, and then run the tool. At the bottom of the tool window you need to enter: EZS IN0 EDID# (where # is replaced with the mode you need 1-16) and then click send. This will set the EDID for all inputs to tell your source what kind of digital audio to send. If you are unsure of the modes supported by your receiver, you can repeat this step sending a new mode command. The matrix supports sending a wide range of audio/video modes via EDID 2-channel (stereo), 6 channel (5.1), and 8 channel (7.1). Hope this helps out!

Glad to help out! I have have been using two of these for almost two years now and they have proved to be very reliable. I still think they are some of the best value available for an HDMI matrix. That said, as we move into the HDMI 2.1 era, I am starting to see some more "affordable" options becoming available. About six months ago, a 4x2 matrix like the ezcoo but with HDMI 2.1 support (120Hz, 8K, VRR, etc.) were well over $1000 USD. There is now a $200 USD range option available (still 3x the price of the ezcoo). I haven't tested it out yet, but here is a link if you are interested: amzn.to/3Saq1Mo That said, if you are good with HDMI 2.0, I definitely recommend the ezcoo matrix and have no plans to retire mine any time soon.

The "affordable" option hasn't been available for the last few weeks, probably due to not meeting its specs... Yes, $1000 option only at this point, but I suspect that just as with the HDMI 2.0 release, prices will come down soon. The best HDMI 2.1 device I have tested that can switch/split (not matrix, but a choice from 1 or 2 inputs 4k120 mirrored to 2 outputs 4k120) is the OREI BK-22. It has been sold out for a while however OREI informs me we are a few weeks away from new stock availability.

@askdrtk
@askdrtk 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks! This matrix is limited to HDMI 2.0 only (no DisplayPort) and will limit refresh to 60Hz. Combination HDMI and DisplayPort matrix switchers are rare and expensive. If your monitor supports 120Hz over HDMI (an HDMI 2.1 monitor) then there are a few options starting to become available. If this is the case you could use one HDMI cable and one DisplayPort 1.4 to HDMI 2.1 adapter from you video card to this 4x2 HDMI 2.1 matrix: amzn.to/3Saq1Mo to provide both 60Hz and 120Hz HDMI signals to your monitors. Again, this will only work if your monitor supports 120Hz over HDMI. With this configuration, you will be able to switch up to 8K60 or 4K120 (including VRR) - really nice for future considerations... The HDMI 2.1 matrix I linked is currently selling for around $220usd, which is expensive, but considering the only option to do this six months ago with well over $1K. I suspect that HDMI 2.1 gear will continue to come down in price this year. Hope this helps out!

I have found the matrix to have a strong signal amplifier - tested an 8m standard HDMI 2.0 cable and two 8m cables with a repeater in the middle, also without issues, although I prefer not to use any standard HDMI 2.0 cable over 5m as it can put strain on the output. Glad to help out! There aren't any presents to auto configure the inputs/outputs, you have choose which of the 4 inputs you want to display on either (or even both) monitors. All of the configurations you are looking for will work, but this matrix only has 4 inputs and it sounds like you need 6 (2 for each PC, 1 for the XBOX, and 1 for the PS5) so you will end up swapping cables. I 6x2 (6 inputs, 2 outputs) matrix would be a better choice. I would suggest the OREI HD-602. It is excellent quality and will cover every combination you are looking for with out needing to swap cables. It is HDMI 2.0, so you are limited to 60HX (no 120Hz / VRR for the consoles). If you have a PC connected on the HDMI input, can you run 2 output monitors on an extended display mode and not on a mirror mode?
@askdrtk
@askdrtk 2 жыл бұрын
This is not an external video card and so it will not not extend your display across two monitors. This matrix allows you to input up to four HDMI sources (could be PC’s, consoles, streaming boxes, etc.) and output them in any arrangement to two monitors or TV’s. You can have any one of the four inputs on either of the two outputs, or you can have the same input on both outputs. It will also downscale 4K to 1080p, but it doesn’t extend desktops. HDMI doesn’t typically allow you to use two monitors to extend desktop area with one cable other than if you are using a very expensive signal processor to make your PC see two monitors as one. Sorry this isn’t what you are looking for but I hope this helps out.

Hey. I just bought one of these, does it have HDMI bypass? Asking for capture card purposes.
@askdrtk
@askdrtk 2 жыл бұрын
Yes, you can set the output of either HDMI port to "Pass" or "1080p" using the dip switches on the front. In "Pass" mode, the matrix will not process the input signal and send it directly to the output. For example, if you are gaming in 4k on your monitor and want to capture (stream or record) at 1080p, set output 1 to "pass" (connect to your monitor) and output 2 to "1080p" (connect to your capture card. This way you can use a capture card that only supports 1080p and still game at 4k with no lag. It also means your capture card doesn't need to have a passthrough. Hope this helps out and thanks for the question!

Any suggestions how to resolve both please?
@askdrtk
@askdrtk Жыл бұрын
In my case, the flicker on camera is due to the shutter speed on my camera and not present when watching the screen directly. I do have a couple of suggestions that may help out. The first thing I would try is placing the EDID switch in “Copy” mode, set both DIP switches in the ip position, and connect the ultra idle to output 1. This generally improves compatibility with a variety of refresh rates and resolutions. If this doesn’t solve the issue, I would download the “Update and Setting” kit and perform the update. You will then have access to additional EDID options including User Defined. I don’t believe you will need to change settings from the software, but the option is there. If these solutions do not help, let me know the details of your monitor/graphics card and mode you are trying to use and I will look into the settings further. Hope this helps out!

OK - Audio and video are switched together, so you cannot have pc video with laptop audio or laptop video with pc audio on the same TV. TO accomplish this, you would need to extract the audio from each HDMI source, mute the original audio, and then combine the alternate extracted audio back into an HDMI source. I am not aware of a stand alone device that does this (would be great to find one), but it may be possible using a series of switches and extractors. I will look take a further look into this and let you know if I come up with anything. For anyone reading this looking for clarification, this matrix (an all others I am aware of) in this example allows you to route the pc signal (both audio and video) to either TV 1, TV 2, or both and the laptop signal (both audio and video) to either TV 1, TV 2, or both. Since there are 4 inputs, you could add 2 game consoles or other sources as well.

Extending is not possible with a single HDMI source. If your computer has two HDMI outputs, you could connect both to the matrix, setup extended desktop on your computer, and pass each though to an output on the matrix. This way you get extended desktop and can still switch your monitors between two additional sources. Note that the TESmart switches usb 2.0 and the CKL switches usb 3.0. These are both more expensive vs an HDMI matrix such as the EZCOO, but they both provide a complete KWM solution. Hi, Not sure if you can answer my question. I recently purchased and returned the Orei UHD-402 4k matrix switch. I have a playroom for my boys with two tv's. My case scenario is to connect a PS5 and switch to both tv's so one of the boys can play on the switch and the other the PS5 or vice versa. Unfortunately with the Orei i could only get output A to display in 4k and output b to display in 1080p and if i mirrored the image would drop both tvs to 1080p. I would like to know if this matrix switch is able to display both outputs in 4k HDR at 60fps and with Vrr possibly enabled. Also if it can display in 4k to either output while also displaying the switch at 1080p on either output at the same time.
@askdrtk
@askdrtk 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the question. I can confirm this matrix will display 4k on both outputs as long as the source is 4k and both displays support 4k. If one source is 1080p and the other 4k, each source is routed independently to the outputs and does not affect the resolution displayed for the other source It can be set to downscale 4k to 1080p on either or both outputs however it is not an upscaler, so 1080p sources will always be passed through at 1080p. This matrix will do what you are looking for with the Switch and PS5, however it is HDMI 2.0, not 2.1 so VRR will not be available and 4k will be limited to 60Hz. There are a few new HDMI 2.1 4x2 matrix devices starting to become available that do support 4k VRR, however as with all new standard adoptions they are very expensive. I believe the avpro is about $1250 usd... Hope this helps out!

How do you show it where you can see 4 devices on one screen is there a way to make it so you can Cascade it like for example 1 PS5, 1 Xbox, One PC and Other onto 1 Display Monitor? I can’t figure this one out I have the EZCOO 4x4 HDMI 2.0 Matrix. Any help would be appreciated Thank you.

To show all four inputs on one screen you need a matrix or switch that supports multi-view or "multiplexing." Unfortunately the EZCOO does not have this feature. A very good option is the OREI UHD-401MV (up to 4K60). I haven't found an HDMI 2.1 option to support this as of yet.

Oh thank you very much I was pulling my hair out with this and though you could configure through network settings but you’re right it only does the 4 inputs with 4 outputs and no 4x1 on one screen. I brought a switch instead thank you so much for the explanation.

When using the HDMI2.0 Matrix 4x2 with Nvidia shield pro connected to my PC I here a annoying noise, it does not happen with any other devices connected.

There is a known bug with surround sound compatibility from the Shield. Try disabling surround sound on the Shield and see if the noise goes away. Hope this helps out.

By connecting PC and PS5 will Ezcoo produce extra response time / lag for gaming?
@askdrtk
@askdrtk 2 жыл бұрын
Latency is only introduced when using the matrix to downscale 4k to 1080p, on pass through there is none perceptible. I use this with PC, PS4, and other consoles for gaming on the pass through mode with no additional lag. Hope this helps out!

@@askdrtk awesome thank you for your reply. One other question if you don't mind. The power supply, does it allow 110V - 240V ? Can't find anywhere? Also Thoughts on the Orei BK-22? Thanks mate

No worries, glad to help! The power supply I received is auto switching between 110-240V. The Orei BK-22 is a great device. I found it to be top quality and perform very well. It isn't a matrix, so you cannot send different inputs to each outputs (both outputs are the same souce), but is handles variable refresh perfectly in my experience. I reviewed it here: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/d9ODd7aXr8zYdaM.html

@@askdrtk thanks heaps again mate. Think I may have found another way for my needs. I'm after a 1 in 2 out splitter that can handle 1440p at 120hz. Do you know of a good one? Please
@askdrtk
@askdrtk 2 жыл бұрын
At this point I would say the BK-22 is your best bet. I am not aware of a 1x2 splitter that will handle 120hz (I've been watching), it seems the first batch of splitters supporting 120Hz are coming as combo switch splitters. In your case you would only use one of the inputs and the both outputs will display the signal (a splitter). An advantage of going with the BK-22 is if you end up with another device you want to use with both displays, you are good to go + you are future proofed for awhile with 4k120. HDFury also makes a great 120Hz matrix, but it is $$$. As of now, the BK-22 is tough to beat in term of performance, quality, and overall value.

Does it support 120hz
@askdrtk

No , this one is HDMI 2.0. The 120 Hz (HDMI 2.1) matrix options have been very limited and expensive. So far, 4x2 matrix options for HDMI 2.1 are limited (AVPro Edge is $1200 USD), but just as with the early days of HDMI 2.0, I expect affordable options to start showing up soon. If you don't need a matrix function and can get away with switching between two inputs and mirroring on two screens (or screen and soundbar), the OREI BK-22 is the best affordable option I have tested so far for 120Hz, VRR, etc. I reviewed it here: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/d9ODd7aXr8zYdaM.html Hope this helps out.

Can i use hotkey on keyboard for this device?
@askdrtk
@askdrtk 2 жыл бұрын
Great question! It accepts either IR or control via RS232. To use a hotkey (and/or Stream Deck) for control you would need either an IR transmitter (blaster) connected to your PC or a usb to serial cable for a hard wired connection, but either way it can be done. Hope this helps out!

@@askdrtk Thank you for answer! But I think I made mistake... I have ezcoo EZ-SW41HA-KVM HDMI V2.0 KVM . But I can`t use hotkeys on my keyboard. I don`t understand what happens.
@askdrtk
@askdrtk 2 жыл бұрын
I don't have that specific switch, but I have found not all keyboards to be compatible with KVM hotkey switching. Does switching with your mouse work? If not, while it may seem obvious, make sure the mouse is plugged into usb 1 and the keyboard into usb 2 (I have gotten them reversed before). If you can, trying another keyboard may also be helpful in testing for compatibility,

Yes, although you can use IR with your KVM, you shouldn't need to as the switch should pickup your key combinations or mouse actions.
