Yazidis of Türkiye migrated to Europe for some reasons during and after the Ottoman period. Some of these reasons are as follows.
Throughout history, Yazidis have been subjected to religious oppression due to their religious and ethnic identities. The conflicts between the PKK and state forces in the 1980s and 1990s made the lives of Yazidis difficult.
Economic conditions in the eastern and southeastern regions of Turkey are generally difficult, and since Yazidis live in these regions, they were attracted to the opportunities in Europe. Access to education and social services is limited in rural areas in Turkey. Providing easy access to education and social services increased their desire to migrate. Political and social changes in Turkey since the late 20th century have increased the pressure on minority groups such as Yazidis. Especially the 1980 military coup and the political instability that followed forced many Yazidi families to migrate. Finally, diaspora support networks in Europe made it easier for Yazidis to migrate to Europe. Now, with the support of the State, Yazidis are migrating to their own lands.
