I think you have missed one key detail. Ezio is the cheapest 5-color commander tied with Jenson Carthalion, and it is easier to cast. I think in cEDH it will be played as a 5-color turbo ad nauseam commander. It won't be top tier but I'm almost sure it will have some good results.

Jensen hasn't done anything in tournaments. The Jensen's decks got a strictly better commander, but it is not a good archetype to begin with I am more curious to see where tribal synergies might get this cards.

It has done something in tournaments and the results aren’t to shabby… look at edhtop16

I mean, Jenson/Lurrus has a couple top 4's and multiple top 16's by multiple pilots. I think Lurrus 5 color is pretty good.

I'm looking at Ezio-Lurrus for a potential cEDH list (it does remove the Nexus potential, but Ezio does allow you to basically always keep a "gun" in your back pocket aimed at anyone who goes below 10 life, compared to Jenson who lets you scry occasionally)

I mean you alredy have jenson and I think he is better in this regard. cast multicolored spell scry 1. That is .... better ...

@@cedhtv as someone that's played jenson for months now, i'm more on the boat that ezio is a better choice, just due to casting cost, the scry 1 is hardly ever relevant but getting to easily cast him in what is essentially a grixis shell, is massive, tutoring for green and white sources to cast jenson, was hardly ever the plan whereas it's a lot easier to cast ezio incidentally without deviating. being 100% honest neither commander has text besides being cheap enough for lurrus and turning on free commander spells + mox amber

in paper looks bad, but we sure gonna have a decent brew, since 2 mana, easy to cast, we dont really need to use his final ability, but can be an awkard finisher

Pontus did look at it like that. Like a 2 mana cost creature to get his commander free to cast spells to work.

Jenson has different utility than Ezio in the Lurrus companion archetype. 3/2 protects your life total mildly better but the casting cost difference is very important in my opinion. The ability to turn your mox amber into a mox jet is so much better overall as your deck has more resprentation of black mana. The ability to be cast off of a culling ritual also is pretty nice appeal, or black rituals. The ability to t1 this while also fetching (typically u-sea), which is the land you want, has some really nice utility, as green white is meh. On the flip side, no scry and no Bring to Light synergy (this is the big one). I think I will personally test Ezio at the helm and I think it will perform better for all the reasons listed, and if I ever assassinate someone that will be really cool.

It will also depend on what kind of assassins we get in the new assassins creed set and outlaws of thunder junction set. (Both have been confirmed to have assassins). But it aint that great, just play Najeela or Sisay

yeah. I mean in the end the likly hood we get a 7 mana assassin that is good inside the cEDH meta is really unlikly.

I really hope this isn't considered the black card for the Najeela cycle. I already hate that instead of working with Prowl they just crammed it with better conditions to make it stronger and gave it a dumb name (freerunning, really? not ambush or something thematically similar?). It would be really lame if instead of delving into the black color pie they just wasted one of the cycle pushing the current pet creature type. Also, why is Ezio the ultimate, five color Assassin tribal leader? That should obviously be Altair, but no~~~ Ezio is popular, so Ezio is the headliner.

Free running is what they call it in game when your climbing around it is VERY thematic

@@joekline5554 I know that's why they chose it, but it's very shallow (I could have been clearer about that gripe in the original post). It's made to get you to say, "OOOOOH! I recognize that thing from the hit videogame Assassin's Creed™." Freerunning is a traversal skill. It would make sense for an evasion ability (some kind of landwalk would be extremely on theme). This ability is more like calling in your crew for an ambush. It's like they confused the diving assassination technique for being part of the freerunning skillset b/c it involves jumping off a building.
