Hello hello, my fellow friendly farmers. It’s been almost a month since the 1.6 Update, and I am beyond impressed! There is a ton of new content, from new items and weather conditions to a bit of good ol’ fan service.

1 month ain’t that long. A 2 month gap is to be expected tbh for console and even longer for a mobile update. Will probably come this month for console judging by ConcernedApe’s tweets He did say small gap but that doesn’t mean within a couple days it was gonna release on console + mobile has many people across the internet believed. Common misconception which makes sense

I was cutting weeds with my sword while wearing the napalm ring and a truffle crab cost me a bunch of stuff, now I finally realized what it was because at the time I didn't even knew what happened.

I accumulated 30 mystery boxes, and every 5th-7th one gave me 2-4 more mystery boxes. I love it.

clint mentions scratches in pickaxe when you first enter frozen mine layers, and later iridium flakes when you first step foot in the desert caves,. those qoutes are not on the wiki yet, wild.

Quick note: I started getting mystery boxes in my second week of spring in the first year... I see a lot of people saying it takes longer, but it was really quick for me.

You get the boxes after either using 2 price tickets at Lewis or 50 days.

I found the pot of gold and sheer whim and I didn't even realize the significance of the date. I just thought it had something to do with it raining the day before.

I tend to get a lot of my first mystery boxes from clearing the trees on the farm and cindersap forest. I'm usually in a mad rush to get foraging levels for the berry picking and to protect the crops from the first thunderstorm in summer by getting to lvl 6 and the lightning rod. Seems like just shaking the trees is enough to make them fall sometimes, it's wierd but actually got random pieces of furniture based on the tree that was being cut, or clothes in the process too. I really like that I can still use clint's shop and geode crushing services even if he's working on upgrading my equipment. Major quality of life improvement

I remember when the 1.6 release came out, moss was stupid rare before ConcernedApe fixed it, I was scrounging everywhere I could to find some rofl (Clint can also open geodes and such while upgrading your tools, there's a huge list of changes/updates)

Moss wasn't rare, it just takes a while to grow. After the first green rain event for me, it seemed like moss was growing on trees almost every day. After he "fixed" it, he actually nerfed the spawn rate of it.

Im surprised Meowmere from Terraria wasn't mentioned. Since Terraria already had the junimo pet it's nice that now its come full circle with an iconic weapon coming to stardew

It's sad how bad the sword is though, as you really can't access it until later in the game when you most likely already have the Galaxy sword.

One advantage of being a console player is the fact that there is less items in the game, the 'full shipment' and 'polyculture' achievements are slightly easier

The funny thing about mystery boxes is that it can drop itself, 2 or 3 of them to be exact. And if you were crazy lucky, you’ll get full backpack of them.

I got mystery boxes mid Spring on year 1, so I think you can get it anytime and not just after 50 days in game.

Heh heh. ConcernedApe used one of MY ideas! That was the idea of putting a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow which appears because of the spray from a waterfall. I'm not sure if he actually got the idea from me or not, but it's definitely similar enough to mine that I suspect he saw one of my posts and took my idea and ran with it. More power to him! 😄

Imagine there's a new room in the community Center that's inhabited by stray cats and house cats of the townsfolk that stroll around pelican town etc. And when you finish the room, the junimos build a Lil house for the stray cats in cindersap forest. From there on you could befriend em and they leave you goodies at your Front door. Btw isnt it weird that we can talk to the tanuki, bear, raccoons etc but we cant talk to our pets?

I'm waiting to play 1.6 myself because I play on Switch, but my wife bought the game on PC recently and started playing after the 1.6 update so I've seen plenty through her gameplay. She's a full year in now and I've already seen plenty of new things, she just got the first "Raccoon Tree" quest and is farming for her first Prismatic Shard... Most I've been able to say is "keep trying", she doesn't want to touch Skull Caverns until getting the Galaxy Blade

The Leprechaun thing was neat. I hadn't found that one yet but I'm rarely in Cindersap Forest unless I'm heading to either the Travelling merchant, the Wizard or the Secret Woods so I'm never really down that way. My favourite hat isn't gained by achievements so I have no reason to visit the hat mouse. The only other time I'm down that way is to catch the Glacierfish in Winter I didn't know about the truffle crabs either but I never raise animals aside from the farm pet so I'd have 0 chance to ever find one unless I play with a friend one day. One day... I knew about Green Rain. I was so hyped the entire first day it came. I wish it spawned more often because I love it to bits as well as all the features that come with it. Super super cool!! I've also worked out the prices and artisan prices of the 4 new crops we got and I can say Summer Squashes are the most profitable without Artisan Refinement at 360 gold per season and also the easiest to buy I think but with Agriculturalist and Artisan profession and refinement, Pickled carrots are the most profitable at 2,184 Gold per Season

There are new achievements, and so the hat mouse has new hats! I can't remember which achievement it was, but my favourite new achievement hat is the paper hat. It's adorable.

I saw a GIANT monster-sized opossum in my first new playthrough of 1.6 and I have seen NO ONE talking about it!!! I came into town from the mountain, at night, and the opossum was toward the left side of the screen. When I got too close, it startled and ran away!

I got my toga outfit at the desert festival in spring! Each day of the festival, Sandy and Emily will give you a whole new outfit. The best part of the outfit, imo, is the laurel wreath hat.

Question about the legendary fish can you just catch one and that's it? Because i was trying to catch more for the smoker used both the Iridium and advanced Iridium rod and didn't get a single bite from one even the one in the sewers.

Yep! But you can catch multiples of the Legendary fish's decendants during the quest.

There is a quest from Mr Qi which lets you catch more. Until that quest is active you can only catch one of each.

Horses could wear hats in 1.5, pets can now wear hats in 1.6. Not sure about the farm animals.

I've been away from Stardew Valley for a while, but every video I see shows giant crops on farms. How do you get these things? I always see huge pumpkins or mushroom trees, now giant powder melons. Is it a late game thing?

cauliflower, melon, pumpkin, and now powedermelon are crops that can grop big if you plant the seeds on 3x3 tiles. let it grow till they merge together. nice decoration, and harvest more crops.

@@corey2232 it will stay there ALL the season, until you chop it with axe. no need to water it. it will survive throughout the winter, too.

seems like green rain dialogue didnt trigger to me in my 1.5 perfection save that i've been playing before 1.6

The new dialogue is mostly in the first year, and every second year has different dialogue. The villagers only really freak out and hide in the first year, after that they consider it normal.
