This week, we’re sharing songs from Ezra Furman, whose latest record Transangelic Exodus just released last week. In the first video from the session. He's not boring, vapid, safe, or contrived enough to be a huge star? Given that he's doing something pretty unique as well as boisterous, I'd argue that he's doing rather well for himself. He has a huge check waiting for him 30 years from now, but these things take time.

John Wigan He was writing great music long before he ever began dressing “like a lady”. Always better than much of the stuff that’s playing in a loop on the radio. His fans are supportive, and I doubt he cares about what some bigots might think of him and his wardrobe choices. If you can’t please everyone anyway, you need to at least please yourself.

I' m76 and obviously dont get much of todays music BUT every now and then tracks appear and I just have to sit up and take notice .Yes I heard Iit on Golddigger too, so congrats to the person who made that decision. Didnt see it on the credits so I had to Shazam it. Like others cant get it out my head .I love it so bad! Simple driving rhythm. for me thats what pop is all about. It doesnt happen with all pop music of course, and he may drift off and do other things and people will never remember. I will. I love it so bad.

Heard this on the radio on New Years Eve. I`d never heard of Ezra before. Thought it was a cracking track. Then I watched this video and it just blew me away. This guy is a STAR. He looks coolly insouciant and nerdily, repressively furious at one and the same time. Best thing I`ve heard in the last 3 years. Utterly superb.

I appreciate your admiration for the artist, but I think Ezra and myself would appreciate it if you refer to them by their proper pronouns of she/they, as that is how Ezra identifies herself. Thank you!

Every lyric of this song just cuts like a knife. ‘Nights mom got drunker than dad did, buying drugs from a parking attendant, got a dumb job working in retail.’ Captures the obsessive lonely working class thoughts.. This song brings me to tears thank you Ezra

Had the pleasure of meeting Ezra on the street before a show in Denver and got to chat for 5 minutes about some of the old tunes. Awesome experience. Played an amazing set including this one. One of my favorites to play on the guitar including many more of their tunes. Ezra kills it live!!!!
