On this channel we like to do a lot of dogfighting most videos are some sort of dogfight between 2 different aircraft as we explore their different capabilities. From time to time I like to dabble in Virtual Reality, I think VR is a great new technology and I love to show that stuff off for the channel from time to time.
If you enjoy war thunder or Microsoft flight simulator 2020 or even dogfighting in Battlefield 2042, consider getting yourself into Digital Combat Simulator by Eagle Dynamics, the Combat side of Aviation with the BVR and Dogfights really provides a different and interesting perspective on aviation. You can fly all kinds of combat aircraft including the F-16, F-15, F-14, JF-17, Su-27, Mig-29, Mirage and the F-18 Hornet along with many other aircraft and helicopters like the Ka-50 and Mi-8.

Assuming the pilot survived the hit (there was a lot of damage around the nose and cockpit), my guess is that he hadn't punched out before the plane started that pinwheel, he was riding it in.

That's freaking awesome. I envy the experience with that level of tech. Air to ground, how do you know who wins? Best hits? That would still be fun as all getout. I'm a marksman most. The tech in the aircraft are fascinating to me. I never understood people who obsessed over pro sports...until I found DCS. Now I understand completely. It's humbling. SAM missiles are intimidating: because they have to climb through thicker air they need large rocket motors, & yes they might not have as much energy by the time they reach the target as an air launched missile, but my subconscious is still terrified seeing a school bus hurtling towards me 😱

And still people will find a way to use this beautiful fight as a way to prove their point that any F plane is better than any Su plane. Clearly down to skill and situational awareness. I'd say the F-15 is at a pretty big disadvantage here in terms of capabilities and missiles, but still a great fight determined by the pilots (one pilot in this case).

What baffles me is that these missiles are so advanced yet they don't know where the ground is. Especially over flat areas if nothing else the aircraft could instruct the missile (for ex based on gps and built in map) not to dive more than this-and-that and then the missile's inertial navigation would take care of it.

evading terrain could cause the missile to lose track on the bandit which might be the reason they dont bother to try and implement this

By their operating principle Doppler radars ignore returns from static objects without Doppler shift... like ground. That's how they can detect targets against ground instead of getting "blinded"/overwhelmed by ground clutter. (which would be comparable to IR missile trying to track target against sun) That's also why notching works against radar.

The range difference of the AIM-260 is only 20 km compared to the AIM-120, with the R-77 the situation is even funnier with only 3 km difference

I think GS has been playing DCS for so long that he has soome kind of plot armour at this point. Whenever he flies Russian he wins and whenever he flies American he wins, thats me real fcking confused man and Plot armour is the only answer.
