US Air Force F-16 Block 52 fighter jet takeoff and landing. F-16 aircraft assigned to the 169th Fighter Wing of the South Carolina Air National Guard. The Block 52 is the production version of the F-16 Fighting Falcon fighter jet.

Yeah, too much of our fleet is WELL past its "use-by date". Even after going through service life extension, many of the airframes are so stressed that they can't come close to being max-performed.

@@e.l.norton I know how important it is for our pilots to train like they fight but this should be calculated in the overall strategic planning. You can only fly those jets to the max so many times and then they'll need replacing. As an interested citizen I don't like seeing fighters and bombers that old. If nothing else, keeping weapons platforms that long just gives the enemy that much time to perfect their tactics against them.

Question from the Uk. Are the Air National Guard part of the USAF, and fully integrated with what they do? Do they operate on a full time or part time basis? Is their equipment “hand me downs” for want of a better expression, from the USAF. Love the vids and thoroughly enjoy👍👍👍, and thanks

USAF and ANG are separate entities. ANG is state “owned” while USAF is federally “owned”. ANG is funded by state taxes and grant from the federal government. They will train together occasionally but are entirely separate. ANG is both full time and part time. Some pilots are full time and some pilots are drill status only. It varies from squadron to squadron. All American F-16s are “hand me downs”, but are upgraded and modified constantly, but the guard gets brand new jets if that’s what you’re asking. There are ANG F-22 squadrons and there are now ANG F-35 squadrons also.

ANG can also be federally activated under Title 10 orders, in which case they are active duty for most intents and purposes. This can be a scheduled rotation, or short notice activation, i.e. in time of war. Source: I am ANG.
