@Major_Tamre_Colby
@Major_Tamre_Colby 3 жыл бұрын
I have to laugh. A couple of you mentioned about how quiet it is in the cockpit. Actually, no. The audio in this video has been isolated somehow from background noise. If he wasn't wearing that helmet, by the time he had finished cloud dancing he would have been half deaf and had a pounding headache. Trust me, it is so loud that you can feel it on you skin. Remember, you're sitting right in front of a jet engine and there's no sound proofing.
@artysanmobile
@artysanmobile 3 жыл бұрын
Not only is his VOX mic physically isolated inside its housing, but the sound it picks up is highly processed digitally to remove all but voice. I personally don’t know if this video used non-real time processes but it takes quite a bit of computer power to execute that process in real time for the pilot’s ears.

14:00 "Bingo Fuel" is military slang for the minimum fuel required for a comfortable and safe return to base. I was wondering about his fuel. At nearly 15 minutes in and being in afterburner so much with no drop tanks......it makes the hair stand up on the back of your neck.
@iTz_JLAR
@iTz_JLAR 2 жыл бұрын
The "Bingo Fuel" knob is part of the fuel indicator and is set by the pilot. They can set it for any amount and at any time. It is not just used for RTB (return to base) fuel.
@rael5469
@rael5469 2 жыл бұрын
@@iTz_JLAR What would be the point of setting it for any other purpose? It's either for return to base or hit the tanker. Wikipedia: " BINGO - Coded message that mission must be aborted and return to base (RTB) due to lack of fuel etc. Originated from the cockpit cross-hatched low fuel warning indicator that looked like a Bingo card."
@iTz_JLAR
@iTz_JLAR 2 жыл бұрын
@@rael5469 some jets you can set multiple bingo fuel levels. Back in the day, Bingo might have just stood for RTB or low fuel but that's not the case anymore. Bingo can mean whatever the pilot wants it to. During this demo as an example. "Bingo Bingo" is enunciated mid way through the show. It is then announced again at the end. In this scenario, the pilot is probably using the bingo indication as a show routine time stamp. "Hey I've hit 1st bingo. I have X # of maneuvers left." 2nd Bingo RTB.

There are usually two fuel settings used but both have the verbal warning of BINGO. The first is JOKER fuel at which point the pilot SHOULD begin his return to base. BINGO fuel amount is then set into the aircraft - which is the point at which the pilot MUST return to base. If BINGO setting is 2500 pounds of fuel, JOKER would be 3500 pounds, usually +1000 pounds up from BINGO.

Pilot was very well aware of the recovery height. Good show.

Folks, do me a favor. Look up Airshowstuff demo PACOM Japan. Now that is how it is supposed to sound in the cockpit. Besides, it's also a much better performance than this demo. This one was rather sedate, no offense intended, but it wasn't very exciting except for the eerie lack of noise. Whatever, if you guys ever figure out how they didn't have any turbine whine in the background would you please Google me with what you find. Capt. Tamre Colby USAFE/NATO

Like it. Though don't understand why the camera is pointed at the pilot and not out to the flight experience.
