On this channel we like to do a lot of dogfighting most videos are some sort of dogfight between 2 different aircraft as we explore their different capabilities. From time to time I like to dabble in Virtual Reality, I think VR is a great new technology and I love to show that stuff off for the channel from time to time.
If you enjoy war thunder or Microsoft flight simulator 2020 or even dogfighting in Battlefield 2042, consider getting yourself into Digital Combat Simulator by Eagle Dynamics, the Combat side of Aviation with the BVR and Dogfights really provides a different and interesting perspective on aviation. You can fly all kinds of combat aircraft including the F-16, F-15, F-14, JF-17, Su-27, Mig-29, Mirage and the F-18 Hornet along with many other aircraft and helicopters like the Ka-50 and Mi-8.

You're thinking of the 1970s. The Chinese armed forces have made huge advances in the last few decades. Some of their stuff is cutting edge. Good luck in a naval battle against a modern Chinese carrier group and destroyers... it's going to be a 50/50 tossup, depending on who has the most missies. @@NerothLoD Both are 20 years more modern than the F-22, both can super cruise (unlike the F-35), both have advanced sensors (unlike the F-22 which lacks things most 4th gens have), the Su-57 is the only 5th Gen that can carry cruise missiles internally, like the Kh-69 it used against the thermal power plant in UA, while the J-20 has the best missiles available to it, being the PL-15, PL-17, PL-21. The J-20 is also the most produced 5th Gen made by a single country, only behind the multinational F-35 which is less than 2/3 US made. China also basically owns the GaN semiconductor supply, which is important for modern radars. The F-22 is a fine aircraft, but other countries have fine aircraft too and the F-22 never saw any significant upgrades, while the Su-57 is being developed into the Su-57M, the J-20 has the improved J-20A and J-20B and the F-35 has plenty of imrpovements with each Block.

@@Persephone_01 The Su-57 can't supercruise (Mach 1.3 is not supercruising in US terms) and it's not stealthy, it only has stealth elements. Russia doesn't have a 5th gen fighter. Or if you want to call the Su-57's Mach 1.3 supercruising than the F35 with it's Mach 1.2 can also supercruise.

They wouldn't have known they were under attack to even try a scramble until it was quarter past too damn late. That's what make 5th Gen and 6th Gen so frightening to me. Defense only works if you realize you are under attack.

The publicly available info gives it a range of approximately 250 miles, so probably closer to 300 (who knows what the undisclosed max range could be). What's crazy is it's known max range is actually further than the radar range of the Super Hornet, so it has to rely on sensor data from other assets in order to target enemies at the max range of the missile.

apparently we used started using AIM-174 AtA missles on some f-18s with like a 250 mile reach. guided in by awacs i guess. Would be interesting to see a video with those on it.

An idea since I'm thinking about it now: I think there's an option to turn off the FCS for the F-18, and I haven't really seen it talked about at all. It's done by either messing with the breakers (I think) and there's a keybind that does it

Is there anyway to prevent so much target duplication? 15 missles for one destroyed plane seems beyond excessive lol

When they launch more slammers than there are targets - the odds of multiple hits on one aircraft goes up. There will always be lucky SOBs that break the lock and survive the first barrage - those juked Fox 3s will find another return to hit... doesn't matter if it's a live return or a dead one.

I don't know what chinese doctrine says, but in sweden that airbase would have been completely empty by the time the threat arrived.
