It's impossible not to like a video like this. Deep and sincere at all times. And who cares about a few wrong notes, if the MUSIC, that is so well composed, is so well felt, so well understood and so well played by the pianist?

Dear Mr. Niemczuk, please - if you can - upload a recording of this piece! I can’t find ANYBODY who plays the church bells the same fortissimo! Everyone lets them soften at the end. You are the only one! I come to this video just to listen.

Magnificent job! You really have a talent for communicating your love of Chopin's music. I enjoyed every minute of your presentation and your playing., which was full of sensitivity and emotion. Quite out of the ordinary. And you have the most charming accent!

this is one of my favorites when it comes to Chopin's preludes, It is almost like Chopin himself is set beside you and is explaining a story which he reminisces on. starts of with pure innocence and joy and gradually gets sadder, although never falls in despair as if he is trying to keep a happy face for a guest.

This was very nice, Mr. Niemczuk. Whenever I hear or play this prelude the ending often makes me think of someone playing the piano next to an open casket where someone very dear to the pianist is lying. I didn’t know the story about the bell. Thank you. 🙏

It's thanks to you that I can once again play this... Was the last piece I worked on with my piano teacher before she retired... in fact, I don't think we actually ever finished it. Time to get back.

Gliding - when the airplane just glides to the wind with no engine. You can find in "The Thomas Crown Affair" and watch the beautiful gliding. (The Steve McQueen version is far superior). This is what I am imagining as you mentioned this part of the Prelude. You are quit e wonderful and has kept me engaged and inspired by your enthusiasm and knowledge of Chopin. Thank you.

Great explanations as ever! Personal taste is for f/ff chimes not ffff (I know a lot of very famous players disagree though), but apart from that I love it! I have been learning this piece now on and off for a couple of months, and it really is a lot harder than it sounds, especially when one's technique is not at the Greg level! Pedalling has to be learned carefully and correct, chords have to be together and complete but not banged (and they are quite big with interleaved fingers, sometimes one had on top switching to the other); only the dynamics and rubato are moderately easy, as playing them naturally gives a pretty good effect (in my experience) - though of course with thoughtful play one can improve on that...

If I recall correctly, you posed a question about a plane without engines. Two possibilities: 1) A normal plane in a lot of trouble. 2) A glider (as in something that glides).

the fortissimo part is not played fortissimo by a lot of people. I like pogorelichs interpretation of this especific prelude because he plays it forte and with very strong basses!

This is funny, I always thought of that bass note like something like a clock, but I always though like it was at a distance, hearing it far away. Still always strong, but a bit far away.

I was thinking that the 11 A flat notes should be played with the same "time gap" between them. because a clock does not wait longer for some beats. So why did Chopin leave 2, 3 and 4 bars??????
