Here's guitarist Alan Mearns performing his arrangement of "Raindrop" Prelude Op. 28, No. 15. Alan recorded this piece on an 1894 Hijos de Melchor de Moya guitar made with spruce top and maple back and sides. Recorded at the Guitar Salon International showroom in Santa Monica, CA.

Nicely done as always. I love how raindrops can evoke different emotions. On a warm summer evening, it's like a relaxing end to a hard day. On a cold, just above freezing late afternoon, a introspection of what has been lost or could have been. A longing wrapped within fleece that doesn't quite cover ones body.

I got that tonight Alan. Very nice to play. After about a minute, the indigestion from a pastie bap halted me and I noticed that the A was tuned down. All was good thereafter. Good work and thank you!

Alan Mearns is one of the most talented classical guitarists performing today - along with Tariq Harb and Moran Wesser they are performing on a completely different level to the rest of 'the crowd'. I just realized that one interval in there that goes up is the interval in "the summer from the top of a swing" just on "the sum" part, that gets used in The Hands Of Time song. The writer was probably thinking of something like this music to come up with the feeling for the film music for Brian's Song. I'm curious to look it up now. Long time since I saw the sheet music. I remember some other pieces and composers but not sure of my hunch it was maybe Bacharach. Playing trivia with myself is no fun if I look it up before making the guess. brb I guessed wrong. It was Michel Legrand. :)
