When my fiancé was going through cancer treatments, she loved this song. She took it upon herself to shave her own head and from then on I made sure to keep mine just as short as hers. I lost her in 2016 and not a day that goes by I don't think about her and miss her. Songs like this one and Breaking Benjamin's Dear Agony. I still love you Cary.

Summer before my senior year I was diagnosed with breast cancer and when I went to start my senior year I didn't want to go to school cause I was bald and so my mom got ahold of my best friend and then my mom had to take me into school the first day and when we walked in my whole senior class had shaved their heads including my teachers just to show me they supported me so this song touched my heart

I've seen it too. The youngest of my uncle's passed about 8 years ago. I barely got to tell him I graduate college. He passed 2 days after that. I lost my gradpa, his father, almost 1 year after that to age and cancer as well. And now my maternal grandpa is coming down to the end of the road from Parkinson's disease. It's been hard for my mom's side since he used to be so active. From coming out for multiple Autumns pheasant hunting and having his own small electrician business, to not being able to walk and having trouble knowing who anyone is.

I lived this with my son. He was diagnosed with Leukemia at 17 months and was in chemo for 3 years and 2 months. It is heartbreaking to hear the news, watch your child sick and in pain, lose their hair, etc. This song always brings me to tears.

My sister was diagnosed with leukemia when she was 11. Told she'd never be able to have kids. She has 2. She's now 54, and her hair has grown back, but not the way it used to be. After what I saw her go through, she is the strongest person I know. And my mom, who was there with her though it all, is the 2nd strongest.

As a cancer survivor this song has always meant a lot to me!! My husband actually shaved my head for me because I couldn’t do it. I’ve always had really long hair. I cried when it was cut to my shoulders. Losing my hair was one of the hardest parts. There is no hiding what’s going on then. But I’m now 10 years cancer free. On a brighter note, #49ersforlife!!!!!!

I've always loved this song, but I was diagnosed with breast cancer in late 2019 and lost a lot of my hair. Decided to have my daughter shave it, I knew I was going to lose it all so I decided it was going to be on my terms.

My daughter had stage 4 leukemia at age 15 which they finally discovered after her friend pushed her into the bleachers in gym and she was severely injured 🤕. She always wanted a Mohawk and has her hair began to fall out quickly. The whole family shaved 🪒 our heads bald. She only had a little patch of hair in the very front. We slept in the children’s hospital 🏥 for over a year. ❤️

👍yup! That song will get ya too. A relative of mine wrecked his car after leaving my place when he was 17. I was 18 and we gre up together so he was just visiting to see my first appartment. We played that at his funeral. I can't hear that one without sobbing everytime. Also, Joe Nichols "The Impossible".

In 7th grade I became friends with a girl. She was so sweet, had beautiful curly blonde hair and in the middle of the year, she started getting sick. She found out she had cancer. She started chemotherapy & radiation. She lost all of her hair & I remember her crying & saying she looked ugly, but she was still beautiful! They amputated one of her legs to try to stop it from spreading. It didn't work. It spread like wild fire & she passed at the end of the school year. She was my first experience with losing someone. I still think about her frequently & she passed away in 1989. RIP Molly

I had to stop midway.. my daughter turned 31 (2 days ago) .. since 2016 she has been in the fight for her life. Her cancer is rare, so clinical trials and prayers is all we have left ... and if you haven't heard "Rise up" by Andra Day .. it's our daily battle cry !!!

When I heard his song I bawled but I think I'd taken that chorus where he inspires the fight and cut that out from all the other stuff and had that chorus I could loop play for motivation when needed.

I've heard this song so many times and it still makes me cry. Especially in high school, hair is so important to girls so this young guy shaving his head for her is so precious. This has been a clove song for me since it came out. I never thought it would hit home to me. In 2019 my mom got cancer, in 2021 my 12yr old got cancer, in 2023 my mother in law got cancer. Thank god my Boy is still with us. My Mom is cancer free! Test in peace Cindy Dunmire, my mother in law lost the fight! We love you!

My son had leukemia when he was five, the chemo made his hair fall out. Thank God for his first grade teacher, because she prepared his class for how he would look when he came to school. They accepted him unconditionally and he even made jokes about his hair. He's now 34 and has a wife and three kids. This song means so much to our family.

Leukemia is cancer. It is a blood cancer. This song has always gotten me. My momma had throat cancer, beat that, then it came back in her lungs. She wasn't strong enough that time. She's been gone 9 years now, and it still feels just as fresh as it did 9 years ago.

This song was inspired by a 5 year old girl who's parents were friends with the song writer. She unfortunately passed from an extremely rare cancer. The song writer wrote this song from the perspective that she was diagnosed in high school and survived.

This song hits home for me too. I’m a Cancer survivor. During my 2 1/2 year battle, I lost my hair. My son was 7 when my hair fell out. ON HIS OWN, he asked my friend to shave his head to be like Mommy. I had no idea. When I saw him, needless to say, I cried. It was the most beautiful thing I had ever experienced. And now, I’m still here and my son Graduates High School on May 26, 2021. (In 9 days). He is still the most amazing human being. I’m one proud Mom.

I lost my momma to cancer as well. I'm the one who took her hair for her.. I was diagnosed with lupus around the time she found out she had cancer. Never ever thought I'd know how it feels to lose my hair but sure enough, I lost mine to lupus. It's growing back but different. This song is so touching.

I’ve listened to this song hundreds of times over the years, but it holds new meaning for me now. My I lost my grandmother to colon cancer in 2019. By the time they found she had it and were talking about new therapies it had spread too far and she died in hospice. In January 2008 I shared my head in support of my sister-in-law who was starting chemo....I froze! She went through the chemo...never lost her hair!! It was still worth it though!!

When my Auntie( my mom’s brother’s wife 😂)was going through her chemo she started loosing her hair while my Uncle was in St.Croix, working as a welder. The night it started my mom ran over there and helped her clean it all up and to stay the night with her. They are best friends for over 50 years 😍 The next afternoon they both came walking in with shaved heads❤️ They had them a good cry then decided to just get it over with and shave it. So my momma did the same. That’s love for sure!!

My Dad died of Cancer a few years back, but when my wife and I heard he was diagnosed and I took him to every Chemo treatment. After the Chemo treatments were done and he started to loose his hair, he was very sad he had hair half way down his back. I Shaved my head at the same time he did to help him cope with loosing his Beautiful hair. I would do it a Billion times over again to there's no Regrets when it came to my Father !!!!! The little girl had Leukemia and I lost my 16 year old daughter July 24 2019. She never got to go to a highschool prom or never had a first love and I think as stupid as it sounds was one of the most important things that can happen to a young girl..I buried my baby with a quarter an inch of hair. She beat the Leukemia but her bone marrow transplant failed 4 times and she passed of infection. My niece was diagnosed with rare brain tumor at 7 yrs old, fought for two years...mostly in the hospital. She lost all her hair and her life at the young age of 9 yrs old. That was 15 yrs ago and it still hurts. 😢

Sorry your mom went through this. I just lost my uncle. He was only 53 and we grew up together. We were only 3 yrs apart in age. I've never been so devestated. Cancer sucks.
