Yup, and that moment 6:34 where she realizes that her daughter will marry anyone to get away from her. Even leaving the capital. Her brushing past her leaving her daughter, still not apologizing is still wrong.

最近生了一个女儿，再看这个片段有不同的感觉。我也觉得嫁给楼垚不算好，他家庭复杂，他又没有分家，不知有没有功名在身。那个时代的女子靠嫁人才能保证后半生的日子。后面出现了他大哥种种事，让我觉得这样的家庭也就那样。只可惜，演到这里，我们也没有看到楼家的状态，母亲跟女主的关系又不好，所以大家都在骂母亲。

Not just that, the did it on purpose knowing her daughter would be mistreated and the moment she returned she never tried to bond with her daughter she immediately tried to control her.

Niao Niao father is totally useless. He never protects his own daughter from that toxic mother. If he was dead it not make any difference in Niao life.

I hate to admit but you're right, in the moment where Niao Niao admits to them, that "they" don't think highly of her so how could someone as great as Gen. Ling want to marry her...is so telling that he's never stood up for her in front of her mother for her to believe that her father has truly protected her.

Efforts my ass, maybe if she wasn't such a shitty mom to begin with niao niao would care about her, but now she disregards her enough to run away. Good for fl, she's been protecting herself since she was young so ofc she sees her mother's words as empty

Exactly, once Niao Niao stated she would rather leave the capital then stay around her family (her mother), that wasn't enough to make her mother acknowledge how problematic she is towards her own daughter. She literally tossed her daughter to the 3rd Uncle after beating her and telling her she wouldn't care anymore but immediately came to stop her marriage, her hypocrisy is laughable. She absolutely refused to see the good in the daughter but is surprised her daughter doesn't see the good in her.
