It's crazy that idols are praised for their "hard work losing weight" and not praising them for working hard on their mv, dancing, vocals, etc

A huge factor in how muscular her thighs became was her height. Being the shortest member she was often forced to wear wedge heels while dancing. Bounce on your tippy-toes for a few minutes and you'll feel every muscle in your legs start to burn. I can't imagine training for hours in that position. We now see 4th gen girls wearing platform shoes to hide the height difference, but wedge heels had idol stylists in a chokehold second gen.

I remember there being a clip of Luna guesting on Strong Heart (pretty sure that was the show this was on) and a few fellow SM Artists showed a picture of her thighs and constantly talked about how huge they were- and I remember Eunhyuk said that he was in the training room with Luna and another trainer once, and how the trainer was putting more weights on the leg press for Luna than they did for him. She really was a punching bag for people to nitpick for no reason, even though she was incredibly healthy and in shape. I've always really loved Luna, and I'm so sad about how she's been treated over the years, by anti-fans and her company. I'm so glad that she's starting to do a little bit better now.

it breaks my heart to see the hypocrisy within the kpop community... idols can't seem to do anything right. idols like Luna loose drastic amounts of weight following hate comments, only to then be criticised for being "too skinny". when they then gain a healthy amount of weight again the hate repeats. it's a never-ending cycle... i feel heartbroken for them, it must be so frustrating knowing you can't please some people no matter what you do - in Luna's case, even just trying to justify weight gain and loss :/

I feel for her so much :,( Luna is stupid crazy talented, one of the best vocalists in Kpop but I legit don't get how she didn't blow up like Taeyeon. I can't imagine how much pressure she felt next to Krystal, Sully & Victoria, 2:48 you can see how tiny she is. She's so smoll, never fat, the photos made her look bigger than reality.

Luna also lost a close non-celebrity friend around the end of 2019, which further impacted her mental health. I'm really hoping she can get on a program like Queendom and gain exposure. SM casted her for dancing and they got a vocal powerhouse on top of that. She's also very receptive and friendly with fans. Luna really deserves better and I'm thankful she's releasing music again and looking healthier.

She was never fat or ugly. Ever. Koreans are way too obsessed with long, stick-skinny legs, I really will never understand. There's nothing wrong with being short or having a muscular build. It's really only Korean "fans" that hated on her for her legs; as international fans we always appreciated that she was muscular and healthy instead of stick-skinny, so seeing how she was beaten down for that and forced into eating disorders is so depressing. I'm glad she's happier now and Madonna really is a bop. I always thought she was pretty and of course super talented. Hope she continues to be happy and healthy.

Luna was a member I wanted to update for a while since 2019. Things were looking pretty bleak after SM started pushing her to the back but now she's getting a chance to start over. Most of her bad habits and body image problems came from her time under F(x) & SM (All the members were traumatized actually). Luna's body was used as a punching bag back then but beauty standards have changed a lot. Since moving forward in her new company and getting to focus on herself as an artist, she seems to be healing a bit (mentally & physically).

the unsettling darkness of all the vlogs shown in the last portion of the video of her "happily" talking about the restrictions shes holding on herself. the fact that she keeps outwardly saying "i dont like healthy food" "i wish i can eat chicken/pizza/etc" "i dont want to eat this but i have to" but still doing so even thought people are telling her that her diet should not be a subject in a vlog towards her fans kinda makes me think that she is doing that as a way to show resentment for the "fans" who were bullying her and the hate she got for her body all these years. like her talking about how she hates the healthy food she eats but kinda shows her diet off to everybody as if she were proud of it is kinda like saying "look at what you guys made me do, now i have to sacrifice my happiness and suffer because of all of you" like it just SCREAMS resentment but she probably isnt aware that that might be something she's doing. because she never received an apology from the public that would make up for the amount of suffering she went through, she probably feels like she never got to the finish line with that aspect of her life which society made her believe was just as important as her existence because no matter what shape she was, there was nothing she could do about it. what she looked like and her undesirability during that time probably made her think that no matter what she does or eat so looks like, her "supporters" would never be happy, which are basically the only people she had left besides her personal family and friends since the agencies had dropped her and she's not that much of a public figure anymore. The worst part though is the part that she is not aware of how she sounds when she's making those vlogs, and that's the absolute scariest part. She's so broken and the way that she's talking is not normal and it absolutely made me burst into tears watching her blogs at the end portion of this video. Knowing that somebody has an eating disorder is one thing but seeing it happen in front of your eyes with a mask of happiness and cute sound affects to try to make it pass as something normal is so haunting to me, and I am so sorry for the way society has treated this poor angel. this is one of the most terrible things ive ever seen.

I honestly got to the end of this video with tears in my eyes. I've been a MeU and her fan since 2010 and always hated how much of a focus people put on her body. She was so talented, but people only talked about her because fo her weight loss. She was so bright and funny, but people talked about her legs. I have pretty thick thighs that grow muscles extremely fast any time I’m started to do any work out. It is really hard to loose weight in such area. Usually the best way is to stop eating almost at all and restrict you movements as much as possible, which is super unhealthy. Then you can get thights that are thin and don’t have bulky muscles. I can’t imagine how bad it was for her. She is super talented and her voice is one of a kind. And to me she is beautiful

i truly believe that there are a ton of idols out there which we havent seen with their normal bodies yet because they keep starving themselves. i realized this when jonghyun left us and i watched his last MV. his face looked bloated, but i dont doubt that this was his real face all along. i knew luna from the debut days and i did stop watching kpop for many years. after i came back, i was absolutely shocked how luna suddenly looked. watching this video makes me scared that we will eventually lose another pure soul to the cruel kpop industry... idols need to stop obsessing over numbers, may it be view or your weight. they need tons of therapists and help, but ofc that wont happen because 'fat' idols are not popular and useless for any company

God I remember following gen 2 kpop diligently and was shocked when she suddenly looked so different and her muscular legs seemingly atrophied. I remember thinking Chengxiao probably underwent the same treatment, there's no other way the legs become so thin so quickly, that or lipo. You should do a video about Jessica Jung! While in SNSD, she would repeat the typical lines about how they didn't diet but instead just danced hard etc., but since 2014 she has been quite open and honest about her eating habits and I think her approach is quite healthy (perhaps this is why her weight hasn't fluctuated hugely over the years). Her book "Shine" also does not sugarcoat the pressures female trainees face and the daily weigh-ins they have to undergo.

I can’t stop remember of a video : Luna and Hyosung (Secret) covering « Only girl » by Rihanna (kzfaq.info/get/bejne/kL6pqbqmldPImIU.html). When it was released, so many people called them not only fat and ugly, but also declared they didn’t deserve to live. I remember I cried for an hour, because they were for me the proof that you didn’t have to be skinny to be talented, and as a young girl, I was in shock that celebrities could be hated so much because of their body.

9:46 "don't forget you got surgery on your legs to remove the muscle" 🤦‍♀️ Some people are so dumb. Muscle reduction surgery is incredibly expensive, incredibly evasive, and takes a *long* time to recover from, especially from the legs. I know because I had seriously considered looking into it for my own legs. Ultimately came to the conclusion I'd rather just try to naturally atrophy the muscle (aka avoid exercises and heavy weights that target build leg muscle) than to go through the procedure which logistically can't get all the muscle you'd want removed anyways.

I think Loona suffers from the same thing that prevented Bada from being more popular : she's too eager and has a musical theater personality that she doesn't shut off. This is 't my opinion of her but she isn't cool, she tries too hard and in the idol industry even though the majority tries really hard you still can't show it, it's not a meritocracy and coolness, not trying hard (idols that are deemed lazy are praised for god's sake) is attractive. Luna was at the turning point of K-pop when it went from kids that went through the training process and could expect an honest career out of it, to full nepotism / beautiful kids / visual centric concepts. Unfortunately not enough people care about her life or want to emulate what she represents for sponsors to flock to her. To be honest too, even though the first concepts of FX did nothing for her figure, later on she had fire looks and very good clothes chosen for her. I think she suffers from a sort of artistic rebound where because of how SM mistreated her and FX she thinks her artistic vision is therefore better. I'd say not necessarily, she had not so great visuals for the comebacks she had outside of SM and budget has nothing to do with it. If I was her manager I'd tell her to become some form of mentor to young singers, explore musical theater furthermore (she has the personality for it) and take some time to build some musical taste for her solo endeavors. Being a good/great singer doesn't mean you're good at picking songs, tracks it artistic concepts. I wish her the best.

In all honesty I think Luna should give up on being a celebrity and just lead a normal life for her health and well being. I think she's extremely talented but because she doesn't meet the Korean beauty standards (KBS) she's having a hard time hitting it big despite her vocal talent. Watching this video made me feel really sad because it is clear that being a celeb has made her have a very toxic mindset regarding her looks and body. When she was "chubby" by Korean standards she got bullied. When she lost weight she got bullied by the same people who said she was too big. When she lost the muscle in her legs people say her legs are too thin but when she gained it back they said her legs are too muscular. She is trying really hard to please the public but nothing she does is ever enough for her. She should just take a step back and focus on her health and well being. If she really wants to continue to be a celebrity then she will need to accept that she can't please everyone and just focus on being healthy and showcase her talent like Hwasa for eg who doesn't meet KBS but owns it anyways

I feel bad for all the idols that are forced to diet or choose to diet because of haters/antis When an idol is already at a healthy weight, people bodyshame them to the point where the idol thinks their body isn't perfect enough. This kind of behaviour is toxic and needs to stop, though I'm not sure when it will. While I'm glad Luna is doing better, I feel sorry that she had to go through all of this.
