It is amazing that U take the trouble to learn Cantonese that the commies are trying to wipe out in China and Hongkong. I salute U for your intellectual curiosity

Tsoi Hung Man (對不起,遲了回覆) 我也很喜歡聼國語(普通話),各有千秋,任何語言說得斯文便好聽了。我從前在香港也很喜愛國語時代曲。

+Tsoi Hung Man A native speaker here and I agree w/ you but I think Cantonese sounds nice coz I'm very biased. I=

One year before, l had watched this video, and then, tried to learn the "notes". Then, tried to write poems. eg: 抽刀斷水 水 更流, 一起寫詩 詩無愁。 不求如意 天下事, 只求一葉 樂 深秋。
Hi William, sorry I do not know of any sound recorded device for teaching Cantonese pronunciation. I do think that even if you can find one, it is best if you check against the Cantonese pronunciation guide in a dictionary, which would be more authentic, as Cantonese teaching and recording standards vary.
I suck at cantonese. Thanks for this informative guide! 😁

身为粤语嘅native speaker真係从来冇注意过有音调呢个问题.

是的,我從前也不知道!土生土長 - 我們是知其然而不知其所以然。英文也是一樣:土生土長的英語人士大致上文法是沒問題的,但偶然我們經過正式學習的過程會發覺他們錯了也不自知,如說:“Between you and I..." 是錯的,因爲 between 是一個 preposition。我最近寫了一本教英文文法的書,名 English: Wonder in a Nutshell。 詳網站:www.universebooks.net
It would be better if there were Cantonese subtitles in this video. I've just started learning recently.

lex-ty-z (對不起,遲了回覆) 謝謝!Thank you for your interest. I have included subtitles where the nine sounds were mentioned. I feel any more subtitles would be confusing to most viewers. Are you able to follow what I was trying to say in the video?
@v1ncitore9 жыл бұрын
Francis Lee Good day, Francis! Thank you for the reply! As for now your video is still only focused on those who have already got a broad knowledge of Cantonese or Cantonese native speakers. For us, those who have just started to learn Cantonese it is crucial to have some transcript to follow. I've got some basic idea on 9 tones thanks to your hints in the video. Unfortunately everything else in the video is obscure. A transcript of what you're saying apart from those hints that you have provided would be an immense help, as we would be able to get into each word that you were saying there. Implementation of subtitles would be a great deal of work for you, so I don't really suggest you this. At least some kind of transcript in Cantonese is more than desirable. It is very hard to find a genuine Cantonese talk with subtitles on the Internet.

Dear esmeau, sorry I cannot add Chinese subtitle in that Cantonese video. I already have Chinese words in relevant areas, but I feel putting on any more words might be distractive.

@Francis Lee 不好意思, 覺得你的視頻是給說粵語的人看的, 這樣如何推廣粵語呢?個人覺得 不單只要國語的字幕,還要有廣東話口語逐字的字幕 這樣 學習粵語才容易入腦。

謝謝你的提议!其实這视频是讓對粤语已有基本認識的人看的,未能包容之處请原谅!

I suggest that the video should have subtitles cuz some people cannot catch up with you:)

I have done a couple of other youtubes with full subtitles. They are for a specific purpose only, as full subtitles can be a bit distractive to those who already have a basic understanding of Cantonese. This 九聲 youtube is meant for this latter group. Thank you for your interest anyway.
