Pretty funny how the TAS managed to over-lap the Non-TAS WR once, and the Staff Ghost twice!
TAS = Tool-Assisted Speedrun
There is not any hacking or cheating involved in this run. Perfect inputs, frame-by-frame speed and save state/re-recording were used to make a demonstration of how the game would look like when it's pushed near to its limits. It's not meant to be compared to any real-time records.

The speed of sound is 340.29 meters per second, which translates to 1255.04 km/h, so you can already approach the sound barrier without those fancy tricks ingame. This guy managed to go a little over 10,000 km/h, which is literally Mach 8.163. Or Mach 8 if you don't like decimals. 2fast2hear

@@Techhunter_Talon it wont be any louder once past the speed of sound but the delay would be stupid as if the speeds werent that stupid already. IMAGINE: standing near the track and seeing dat phat shark zoom by and you hear the boom once its WAAAAAAY out of view. JUST IMAGINE

Well since it's played on an emulator I'd imagine it'd be harder for the game to lag, if his PC is really good. This isn't done on an actual Gamecube, after all.

Actually the gamecube versions can handle GX better than Dolphin, this game is notorious for crashing Dolphin. Its just too fast.

I know this is an old post, but I love this misconception. In reality, there's absolutely nothing about "going fast" that's computationally intensive. You could be moving 100000x this speed and it'd be the exact same as moving 1 km/h. The speed at which you're going is irrelevant.

Kind of sortof. When going really fast the game has a hard time keeping up with framerates and buffering the graphics. "Run fast" mods in skyrim crash that game for that very same reason.

Well, in the context of open-world sandbox games it makes sense, given that they generally rely on streaming and don't have the whole map loaded into memory at once. I was referring to the majority of games where that isn't the case - I'm 99 billion percent sure GX doesn't rely on real-time streaming especially given how low-detail the maps are, unless it does, which would be really, really strange.

RayLedgend The physics still apply, assuming that every planet seen in the game has a similar gravitational pull to Earth and is similar in size. Of course, Sand Ocean could be a "super earth"...

At :33 he is going 12769 km/h. 12769 km/h = 7934mph. 22mph = 1 g-force. 7934mph = 360.63 g's (Repeating of course). Highest recorded g's a human can handle and survive to date is 214 gs. Also he is going Mach 12. This guy is going faster then any known jet. Conclusion: It's Ludicrous. Space Balls - Ludicrous Speed

Amazing. I have a question : The WR of Maxspeed does not use the boost even once, and I heard it was because it would slow down the vehicle, but you seem to do it in the TAS. Is it like pressing boost for one frame then stopping? Or maybe you did not know at the time?

A combination of MT and Shift Boosting means on this track in particular, you might not even press Y once through the whole thing

Funny that the speed metre is completely broken at some point. 15,783kph in a frame at 0:43 and 4 kph a few frames after that. Crazy stuff.

By "tool" I think you're trying to say that stole the Chaos Emeralds, ground them up into dust, made an alloy of it with Tylium Ore, then put the semi-processed fuel in a Tokamak where it makes its final transformation into Hypermatter Plasma to be used in a series of ION thruster. The fuel is so energy dense, its like a nuclear bomb going off behind you and the force being directed back to thrust your race ship forward . . Constantly. The immense energy emitted by this hybrid space engine system is too much for the fabric of space and time to contain, so it warps the craft forward in hopes that the engine will give space + time some mercy. Am I correct?
