F-Zero X: Death Cup

I decided to bring out F-Zero X on the N64 since I haven't played it for a while. I chose the X Cup to see what kind of course I would get and, well, it was an interesting one.
The first segment of the video is what happened when I started the race. The course started out fine, but the first major turn killed me... and a lot of the computers too (I took a few recordings and chose the best one). The second segment of the video is when I actually tried to beat the course on my last life. Unfortunately, everyone died even after passing the finish line.
I make no claims to anything presented in this video, I merely drove the vehicle. :P

Just imagine...you're out and about just living your best life, then the next thing you know it's raining F-Zero machines. Explosions happening all around you, people dying left and right, just shear, utter chaos happening all from a floating race track with a weird sharp left hand turn.

I think I used to win races w/ Leon on occasion. Leon doesn't have the best body, and is average on boost, but he's definitely got one of the best handling machines.

In F-Zero X, the Top 10 is usually you, your "rivals" that start the GP in the back with you, and then 7-10 other random characters (Those racers usually shoot straight to the front in the 2nd-6th races). That being said, machine stats really aren't taken into effect. However in GX, the AI actually follows a machine's inherent stats. You've got the OP Black Shadow and Don Genie always up front, while Pico and Leon are always in the back (which is sad, because they're really cool characters, lore-wise). Except Mighty Gazelle, whose machine is considered low-tier but says "Fuck stats" and fights for the lead.

The Great Accident is believed to be blamed on Pico due to his aggressive behavior in races and they had to amp up safety procedures solely because of him, regardless if he was guilty or not.

There was one time I played in X Cup as The Skull, and I was the only machine to finish the race. Everyone else flew off the course. It was funny.

***** same here. it even got to the point that i recently bought four controller cable extensions for my game cube controllers so the wii with f-zero GX becomes playable again (much too short cables). don't let f-zero GX rot in case you have it, it wants and needs to be played :)

Ah yes, I remember the X cup Hilarity when it generated tracks the AI couldn't handle! I've actually seen worse than that, sometimes I'd be the ONLY pilot that finished the first lap! :D

I saw one track once where there was no conceivable way to continue. It was like this sharp cliff for everyone to die on and no indication of where the track even went after that 😆

This here is why I love X Cup. Every course is different and you'll NEVER know when the game will suddenly throw a track that literally cause everyone to fall off the course miles below thanks to an abrupt turn or elevation.

The very first time I played the X Cup, before I even realized it was a random cup, the first track was one like this, everybody died. I was surprised the tracks were different the next time I played. I thiught it was the difficulty of the cup and stuff, but it turns out it's the easiest cup most of the times due to being randomly generated.

The players vehicle automatically turns into an AI racer and the racer makes the same moves as the other CPU because its that stupid. That happens in a pipe still because sometimes in the x cup for pipes, the CPU's leave the top portion and they fall off or sometimes, it drops to quickly when they leave and they fall from the exit of the pipe.

I remember playing on X Cup and a "Fish" shaped Track would eventually show up, like this one. That's when I know that I just fulfilled my Death Wish. I love the "Circle" Tracks on X Cup, where 1/3 is Track, the rest is a giant cylinder.

I've had tracks like this where you go up a huge hill, which then drops down almost vertically into a 90-degree bend. This usually kills every car except mine because I use the side-swipe to save myself. Then you just cruise around with the brake on for the last two laps.

I remember the first time I saw this track--I was laughing so friggin' hard. I kept dying intentionally just to see my framerate drop rendering all those explosions. I had to change my machine to Max Speed so it could take the curve. And I was the last one. XD

I once got a similiar course like that...only vehicles that survived after the final round was mine and the one of Leon... and he even won. I was too busy with surviving than winning

There's a lot more than just that. The X Cup randomly generated the tracks every time you race. Some are death, some are pretty standard. When they generate a circle track, they'll either put a cylinder, or a pipe for most of the track

When I had this game I was able to kill everbody in under 60 seconds. I thought that was the point of the match until I saw this video. Apparently you just have to survive and win.
