The French Grand Prix was held many times here during the 20s and early 30s this is one of the most fearsome race tracks of all time

What the fuck? I saw this track in a dream a few weeks ago! That banking and the chicane in the middle of it specifically. I have never heard, or knew a track like this existed beforehand and i'm pretty new in F1 classic tracks This is seriously creeping me out

I remember seeing some GT races at this track in the 1990s on Eurosport. Quite a mad track, with the extremely bumpy banked sections.

Mate, I live 15 minutes from the track. You can see the bends from outside the track, and it's really impressive! Nowadays, the track is used for certain events such as meeting cars, or automotive tests for the media (Autohebdo ...).Thanks for the video ! (Sorry for the mistakes ^^).

I love the high banked turn that's on the track. Really reminds me of Daytona, Talladega the Monza Oval and the AVUS. Really all these tracks have high bankings that are spectacular but are also deadly in their own ways.

Good video. This racetrack for me could still have a future. Whether as an oval or as a road course. It would be a great race for the Indy of the 90s. For now, it is not worth the investment. A road course could have a layout of about 3km or so. But it looks like it's becoming a parking lot. A pity, very unfortunate!

No it's not, the track still exists and in fact it lives great ! It does a lot of car meetings and the cars can still race on it. Obviously it's not using that layout (it's a bit shorter so you don't have the two long straights but there's the oval and the parts after the second backstraight), but yeah it's probably the best car meeting place near Paris.

For anyone interested this layout was never used for the pre war French grand prixs it instead had another loop below the hairpin. This layout was used for the non championship Paris grand prixs of the f1 era the lap record for this layout is held by Raymond Sommer. He made a 2.20.300 in a talbot-lago T26-C at the 1950 Paris Grand Prix

This is actually the 50’s to 1973 version of the track. The original 1925-1939 track was even longer than this and had no chicanes on the banking.

Could you do the full circuit without the chicane? I would love to see a full lap around there. I also saw the last 2 barricades on the banking dont cover the whole thing so that would be the next best if you cant find a full version.

This was the circuit that Bugatti and Delahaye competed for the Million Franc prize in 1937. To win the prize you had to complete 16 laps of this circuit and average at least 146 khp. Best one over that won. Which ended up going to the Delahaye 145 driven by Rene Dreyfus. It would later be one of only two non german built cars to win a Grand Prix in the late thirties. During WWII the French people disassembled the Delahaye and buried it because Hitler wanted the car brought back to Berlin where he could see it demolished he was so furious a French car driven by a Jew had beaten his Wunderwagons.
