F1, Chinese GP: why Ferrari "needs to understand" again amid clear SF-24 step backwards in Shanghai

Is Scuderia Ferrari back to "having to understand"? Echoing in the post-race comments of Frederic Vasseur and Charles Leclerc himself are those familiar words we've often heard in previous Formula 1 seasons after many Grands Prix from former team principal Mattia Binotto, later popularized through ironic social media posts and videos: "We need to understand." Indeed, no one anticipated that after a strong stint on the medium tires during the first part of the Chinese Grand Prix, Scuderia Ferrari would struggle with pace on the hard tires at the 5.451-kilometer Shanghai International Circuit.
The Grand Prix was distinctly divided into two phases. The first, more predictable, spanned from the start to the safety car period. The second, much more unexpected, from the dual deployment of the safety car to the checkered flag.
Until Valtteri Bottas was forced to retire due to power unit issues, Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez comfortably led the race. Perez was briefly surpassed by Fernando Alonso at the start but quickly regained the position. Behind them, Ferrari commenced the race with considerable caution, only beginning to pick up the pace after about ten laps, particularly with Charles Leclerc. With the two Red Bulls far ahead, the podium fight seemed narrowed down to a duel between the Monegasque and Lando Norris. On the medium tires, Ferrari's pace appeared slightly better, but McLaren still exhibited an unexpectedly strong performance, surprising many given their showing in Saturday's Sprint race.

One of the most formidable( most successful, may be) team is now surpassed by a team which started it's first season on F1 from 2005. Something effective is needs to be done. Ferarri is not on par with Redbull. Why can't they improve while this young team can? That's the question.

this makes no sense to me at all. Ferrari tends to be better on the harder compounds and yesterday they were nowhere on them. the circuit was supposed to be better for them and nope, that didn't happen either. especially considering how far they were behind Norris. at the restart i thought Leclerc was simply waiting a few laps to activate the hard tyres but he never came back. whereas on the medium, towards the end of the stint he was starting to claw back some time on Norris. if the upgrades don't work, Ferrari is going to drop fast as Alonso's Aston Martin and even Mercedes with Russell weren't too far at all; or let's say they were jsut as bad. it's sort of ok not to qualify as well as they did last year given their race pace this year but now if this is no longer true, wow, that doesn't bode well for the rest of the season. let's just hope it was a one-off. Ferrari has got to be the most frustrating team on the paddock as we all keep hoping something is going to change but in the end it's the same story.

I don't want you to send me messages about Sf-24, the reason is very simple for the fact that it is a very weak car, far below RedBull, but also compared to McLaren, but also compared to the potential of Fernando Alonso's car, from Aston Martin .

For the fact that the SF-24 is very weak at high speed, but also in the speed curves, but also in tight turns, so it is a very weak car, me and my friends and we are 120, and Ferarri fans, we don't we were not watching Formula1 at all, we are not at all disappointed and disappointed.

Then obviously Ferrari knows what they need to do which is to start bringing some serious updates to their car. The first serious upgrade they need is a engine upgrade to increase their overall horsepower by a huge amount. Followed by an areo package to go along with that hopefully massive engine upgrade.

The engine is not the problem they need aero update to have better top speed the engines have been reliable and great power

One bad race for Ferrari and the world comes down on them please don’t be that person watch in Miami it will be a different story I guarantee that also it was a sprint weekend and they changed the car before the race whitch I believe definitely messed the setup I believe this team will be winning soon 🙏🏼
