The Prost-Senna rivalry was a Formula One rivalry between Brazilian driver Ayrton Senna and French driver Alain Prost. The rivalry was at its most intense during the period in which they were teammates at McLaren-Honda in the 1988 and the 1989 seasons and continued when Prost joined Ferrari in 1990. The relationship between the drivers was viewed by commentators as polarising and fierce, with confrontations between the drivers a regular occurrence.

Senna never said 89 was his fault. Everyone knew why Prost won that championship, it was completely politically motivated, and it was entirely Prosts fault but he knew he had the FIA president behind him, and would get away with it. Of course he did. I watched the race live. There was a reason for that. Senna had gotten Pole Position and Prost convinced the stewards to change the P1 position on the grid to the dirty side, which is why Prost takes the advantage. So before the race started Senna said that he would crash into Prost if Prost got to the first corner before him. The FIA literally fucked him up and Prost fucked him up the year before. Senna double payback. Senna wins.
@Pepsimaxfresh
@Pepsimaxfresh 10 ай бұрын
@@DimitriMoreira Oh god. That's entirely wrong. The starting places were like that because while Senna asked to have those changed, the steward refused because previous stewards accepted (in portugal, iirc) and that was not legal to do it after the first session has started. Senna never said he would be crashing into Prost T1, he only said that given this track, in his opinion, advantages the P2 side (which prost was in). It was known fact that the previous race (spain), this track and the last one advantages Ferrari, and Prost, to be able to gain the championship had to finish P1 all 3 races, regardless of Senna's results (at this time, only 11 best results were saved). Prost has won the first one (spain), and that was the best occasion to deny him the possibility of coming back in the championship. Both 1989 and 1990 crashes were ultimately useless, as the championship would have been secured regardless due to last race's result

His trajectory took him on the curb which means Senna trajectory was even further to the inside and would guarantee to intersect prost and likely have massive oversteer and wheel off track so it is ignoring a closing gap and dangerous. Senna shot with a dive bomb when it was too late to correct trajectories. Senna should have noted prost trajectory and his trajectory would intersect and let off to follow closely through and attempt overtake onto final section There was no way Senna would have avoided prost which is why I blame him. Prost is clearly guilty at suzuka. The ferrari incident i always thought it was senna. But this video shows the ferrari again. Turning into ayrton, yet again. Alain takes an unnecessary sharp apex there. When he sees ayrton coming up his side. I have no respect for alain. And for him to claim ayrton crashed?! What a sleeze ball

Senna famously said he hated F1 because of the political games you had to play… which Prost was a master at. Prost with Belistre in his corner being hugely biased… and Senna did the only thing he could… play as dirty as Prost. Prost purposely crashed into him in ‘90 so Senna did the same in ‘91 and he barely denied it. I’ve never liked Prost because he argues the rules when it suits him and breaks them when they don’t. Senna’s right… Prost is/was a coward in his response to that crash. Whining about a move Senna did that he himself did the same the year before. Senna’s sense of morality was definitely strange but he wasn’t about the politics… he was about being as fast as possible ALL of the time. Prost couldn’t beat him on pure pace and talent alone… and it showed

Senna was a genious but had no limits, a narcissist psychopat. Almost killed Martin Brundle to win an F 3 title, almost killed Prost to win an F 1 title.

Just a couple observations: In 89 everyone could see that Prost turned into Senna, not into the turn, so much so that Ballestre had to find another way to punish Senna, by alleging Senna cut through the escape route and invalidating his win (yes, he won th race after the crash). In 1990 Ballestre (yes again Prost's godfather) denied Senna the clean side to start from, as the pole sitter, and Senna said, before the race started, that staring from the dirty side would deny his car enough grip and allow Prost to pull ahead but, that he would catch up with Prost on the first turn and, should Prost not give him room to pass, they would crash, which is exactly what happened.

No because it was the penultimate race, meaning if he won had they not disqualified him and prost retired, he would be on 69 points, which is 7 points behind prost, so in the last race he had to win and prost to be no higher than either 4th or 5th to win the championship.

That 1990 crash looks worse every time I see it. Senna was never making that corner and never intended for either of them to making it into turn 2. One way or the other, he hadn't forgotten the previous year. I can't side with Senna on this one. He was so far back coming into the chicane in 1989. He could have set up Prost for the straight and T1. Then in 1990, that looks worse. No way he should be sticking his nose down the inside when he's not along side Prost. It's a gap that's always going to close.

Prost took the chicane properly and shut the door and was dive bombed then left the door open the next year and still got crashed out lol dammed it you do and dammed if you don't because Senna didn't acknowledge the concept of the vortex of danger and wouldn't back out
