very surprising comments on Alonso, seeing as him and Kimi have both followed the same timelines to their 40's, fighting against each other all the way back in Schumacher's heyday, and as teammates, all the way to now in the midfield. you'd expect them to have a lot, but Alonso has surprisingly little to say about Kimi now that he's retiring.
@SakaraRocks
@SakaraRocks 2 жыл бұрын
I thought the same. I understand that Kimi might be the silent type but I would assume you would have something to say about a guy you've seen pretty often for years and years. The young guys who know him even less had even more to say than Alonso.

I think at this point alanso is just used to it. He has seen the best of drivers come and go I don’t think he was being disrespectful I just think alanso really didn’t know him he obviously respected the guy but just didn’t know him I think his was more genuine then the rest of the fake responses we heard here some of them were super fake.

From the vibes I get from the conversation, and specially his first reply ("not much"), I would assume that the two of them were not in good terms. You never know what goes behind curtains but I don't recall Kimi making any special comment about Alonso when he first retired either. Or maybe they never "clicked". This is just my interpretation, but neither Alonso (at least in the old days) nor Kimi are very approachable people, so maybe they clashed a lot back in the teammate days.

@@JordiMataGarcia I think as much as I like and respect both Fernando and Kimi, the poster who said not approachable is the best way. They’re not bad people at all, but there pretty insular, a bit acerbic, and hyper focused on their results. It isn’t surprising they didn’t become fast friends.

My thoughts on Kimi is he always raced other drivers hard but with respect and drivers could trust Kimi in tight race situations, AND Kimi always brought the car back with all four corners on it. I'm going to miss him and hope he pops up in some GT/Endurance racing at some point. Thanks for the memories Kimi!!

I find it hilarious that most F1 drivers are like "ehh I'll miss him," but we f1 fans are all emotional about it. Let's be real, he said few words in F1, but we find ourselves liking him the most in F1. Drivers are physically closer to him then we are, but we F1 fans have more emotions towards him.
