Loving the videos, big help! Question, have you heard of anyone having trouble with qualifying? I don’t seem to be able to do a second run on Xbox… just doesn’t let me send the cars out.

Thanks for the kind words. Can’t say I’ve heard that. On PC I haven’t faced that issue
@DanBasildonBlue

Yep same issue. Re-do the set up to one lap only and switch it back then they'll do the two, yet still they'll either do the two flying laps, do just the one and slow up or pit after the second ruining your second flying lap. So infuriating.

For anyone who doesn't know, at the time, there are a couple of bugs with tyres.. for one, if you do a mid session save and load it, the mandatory tyre usage gets ignored, therefore you can run a race using only softs (I learned this the hard way when the ai did this against me in 2024 bahrain) and for 2, on some tracks, you can run attack pace with 'avoid high risk kerbs' command and save tyres while still having good pace. In my experience, you get the wear rate of the 'light' pace command. Bahrain is a good example where this can be used. It also works on Albert Park.. typically, it seems to work on tracks that don't get very hot. For example, jeddah.. it gets hot, and this strategy doesnt work as well. Your tyres still tend to overheat quite a bit and tyre life won't last nearly as long.

Yes, you will lose a little bit of lap time, its only a tiny bit, but the tyre life you save pays off in the long run. A good way to test this is in race moments, go to bahrain and start a race, choose midfield team such as haas or williams, and watch how they end up with a top 5 finish because after 20 laps their softs have 20-30% more life than those of the other teams.

There is a known issue with the ai where they run softs only during the race. The mid session save might be a good equaliser. Especially as they seem to breeze past when I am on hards.

The one thing that makes a huge difference to tyre wear is the "Avoid High Risk Kerb" driver strategy. It's so good it almost feels like cheating.

I dont manage my tires. I normally add an extra stop because I go full push the entire race. I don't even worry about the temperature or anything, and still end up seconds faster than almost any other strategy I've used.
@AlwaysEwok
@AlwaysEwok 7 ай бұрын
Doesn’t work this year. Push too long and tyres overheat and you actually go slower than if you just left it on standard. Quite annoying I used to do same strategy as you last year
@klonks08ify

@AlwaysEwok seems to work fine for me. I typically do one more pit stop than needed but what I lose in the pits I make up for on track

yup, even though people keep thinking this is wrong its not. just fucking push, HARD. constant. add more pit stops the pushing will make up for it. This is much faster race wise and your own literal time wise than trying to manage it every couple of seconds up and down and up and down.

Love ur vids, they're really helpful! Quick question, say I've gone for an aggressive strategy and I can afford to push on aggressive mode at least for multiple laps or even most of my stint, and my tyres start overheating, is it quicker to back off and let them cool before pushing again or just keep going aggressive and let the tyres suffer a bit more for extra pace? Thank you!
@SimRacingSetups
@SimRacingSetups 10 ай бұрын
Really depends on your strategy. If you have no worry about tyre wear because you're stopping often to pit, then keep pushing. If you need to make them last to meet your pit window then back off. Also be careful as driving aggressviely causes higher chances of your driver making a mistake.

if i have an attack pace from beginning till the pit stop but the fast degradation of tyres will get me through, do i have to play with paces to keep them on white temps? I mean do i lose time on red temps even if the life of tyres is ok? if thats the case why its even an option to choose attack/aggressive pace strategy if i have to go through slowest paces?
@dambo8416
@dambo8416 10 ай бұрын
Hotter tyres means faster tyre wear. You have to manage the pace to make sure you have enough left in the tyre to get to the end of the stint at a good speed.

Ive seen AI flying around below 30% tyre wear with minimal time loss 60% soft vs 30% hards and only gaining a few tenths a lap Ive noticed running light deg gets great gains later in the stint when coupled with rich fuel and ers micromanaging. It feels like lap times stay consistent far longer

The computer has an advantage they've never fixed this from the first game the computer has a I like tired bandage on you even when they go below 15% they're still faster than you and then because they didn't fix the tire separation from the last one they just tried to slightly adjusted you actually lose speed if a car behind you has a different tire so if the car behind you has a soft and you have a medium or you have a hard and they have a medium or soft they're going to be allowed to go by you and your guys not even going to fight back

No it isn't. Quali still lets you run whatever tyre compound you want. Only certain tracks such as Hungary have the new quali testing format, just like in real life.

Having the fourth best car doesn't mean you'll always finish there every race. Some races reward cars that work well in fast corners or slow corners for example. Check out my car development guide which drops later today for tips on how to improve your car. :)

Dude, 19 minute video without any reference to the importance of Optimal Tyre temps? You can push tyres harder in F1M, and still get normal degredation, if your tyres are in the optimal temp range for the majority of the stint. Doing this lets you almost always extend your tyre stints, while driving faster than the AI
@LPisg
@LPisg 10 ай бұрын
So you push the Tyres until the temp goes red, then cool then and then push again and degradation doesn’t increase?
@Takhar7
@Takhar7 10 ай бұрын
@@LPisg yes - you get slightly more deg, the closer you run to overheating, but as long as you keep it in optimal you can run harder and still keep up with AI deg rates
@dambo8416

In reality yes I agree but from my experience the AI seem to run in attack mode 90% of the time. It’s hard to keep up in standard driving mode.

cap, the AI pushes it all race. the only way to keep pace is to just push and add a pit stop. it will ALWAYS be faster than trying to manage.@@Takhar7
