Every single car on the grid in 2000 was stunningly beautiful! The striking yellow Jordan, the vibrant Orange Arrows, the Jaguar in classic British Racing Green, McLaren's West livery, and the gorgeous royal blue of the Prost car. Not to mention the sounds! A banquet for the eyes and ears, and quite an action-packed race too! This is the F1 I grew up with and although I'm enjoying the 2014 season rather a lot, I'd do anything for the sport to go back to this.

I'm quite pissed they removed the tobacco livery from the cars,it made them look a LOT better compared to today's sponsors. I mean,that shiny grey Vodafone that McLaren had these couple of years was ugly as fuck,give me the West McLaren colors over that. Actually,i even have a petition about that here: www.change.org/p/fia-fisa-foca-bernie-ecclestone-lift-the-ban-on-tobacco-advertisement-in-formula-1

CGEustice I saw my first F1 race in person in 2000 at indianapolis..I was 8 years old and will never ever forget how it felt to see those cars for the first time....I feel fortunate to have witnessed the awesomeness of the old F1

Back then I used to watch every single F1 race live, it was awesome. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I remember this was the race where M. Schumacher started to use his red helment instead of the one with the blue top. :)

Correct, also the Marlboro text was in black because his previous helmet had a white band on the top. After this race the text became white.

How many times that Jordan has cracked by itself? It is a shame because like Jordan 199, this car was fast on some tracks, Trulli could have won this race and Frentzen would have had a change on Silverstone if his gearbox didn't die.

@@AJZulu It has improved in terms of racing 7 years later. We’ve seen 2 rounds of 2022 and it’s been great.

The cars were smaller and narrower so it looked like it was wider

This year has been better racing than any year in 2000, only thing we are missing is Mika vs Schumi, which is Ham vs Ros (obviosly not near the same, but still a rivalry) Don't let those nostalgia tinted glasses get too shiny, these cars were epic, but they had electronic aids that ruined the whole F1, and also not many overtakes during races. Almost all 2000s beginning seasons were boring, and who the hell cares about the sound anyway, as long as it isn't like an electric car...? You guys have dissapointed me, and no wonder the viewership is down after the mostly boring 2000s, also F1 gone to pay-to-watch-TV instead of FTA, streams and internet taking some viewers, and tracks like Abu Dhabi or Bahrain with 10 mile runoffs in Asia compared to San Marino or Magny Cours or Indy. Also gimmicks like double points are bad.

Right on! And the talk about the engines not making enough noise is nonsense. A real f1 fan wouldn't care about it especially with all the racing going on. I would love to have another 2012 season but 2014 comes close to it. Vettel not winning anything is the best part of the current f1 season lol

64Fabby Yes year 2000 was nice with Mika and Schumi battling, but after that year it literally became shit, boring. You call traction control, abs and all those systems pure and MORE driver skill involving? Thats just silly. Sure they needed skill to be driven, but todays cars are harder, just the way a F1 is supposed to be.

So THAT'S why people prefer the 2000's over the 2010's? F1 lost it's identity after the HILARIOUSLY sad 2009 season. Atleast the season 2000-2008 were great. Good looking cars,GREAT sounding engine (Not the V8),cars who don't slip after every turn they make,refueling,a tyre war and best of all,no KERS/ERS/DRS.

FinSituation Cars in 2000 didn't have ABS, Traction Control, etc... they were introduced in 2004, and only Traction Control. -.- (I'm sorry for bringing this back after 5 months)

FIA and Bernie could marginalise the sport for good with these horrible rules and regulations. It's so addictive to look back at the old days of screaming cars and whine, ''Bring back the V10s'', ''These were the days'', etc. I wish I had more time to grow up with these days and build a real chemistry with F1, but sadly all Bernie does now is just make and take money with him. :( No wonder the sport has shed 50m viewers. All this electric/hybrid systems that power the machines are totally uninspiring to the fans out there. We need these cars and more outgoing, mean drivers again, or fans will become protesters making more noise than the V6 engines without calming down. At least MotoGP still feels nostalgic, I guess. Rossi - 5,000+ career points. Congratulations. Slick racing, fast(er) bikes... yeah.

udip21 good question...they really did have that distinctive high pitched whail..it was even more evident in person...it stayed that way for a few years in fact...great sounding machine
