The current state of my f150 overland build. I walk through all of the vehicle mods as well as EDC gear that stays in my truck full time. We love our full size overland rig. Hope you enjoy!

Dude, this truck is awesome. I have essentially the same build on a 2019 Ranger XLT 4x4, ADD bumper, lift and tires, RCI rack and RTT, etc. I'm about to go up to an F150, either reg or ext cab, and do a permanent pop-up overland bed camper build. Great inspiration!

Goals! After selling my 4runner i decided on keeping a few things i had on it and a few things i never got around to installing like the midland, 8ft awning with room kit, arb twin w/wifey air. Im going with 18”s and 33”s with a front spacer lift. No major offroading just fire roads and koa. I have stomack problems so on the single flip up section where your car seat is i have a cassette toilet, its a life saver.

Nice rig and thoughtfully done. The magnet idea is cool. Have you had any issues with magnetism interfering with the radio functionality or power? I just ordered a fire extinguisher for my truck and that bed molley is a good idea!
@coleeades9 ай бұрын
I didn’t even think about that when installing. I haven’t noticed any issues with it since it’s magnetic to the radio mount and not the radio itself. But I’ll keep an eye on it to see if I notice anything

Hello, Great Video. In process of building my 2021 f150 for overland setup. can you please let me know if you are able to open/ roll up the tonneau cover with cross bars installed? TIA
@coleeades5 ай бұрын
With the short bars like I have you are not able to. But I have found that there is no situation needed where rolling the cover would be of any benefit with the bars on.

@coleeades6 ай бұрын
As far as future plans I would like to upgrade to a truck camper. Probably a Dwell Shell from a company called "AntiShanty" (Similar to a Go Fast Camper). I'm a big fan of budget gear but things I'm glad I spent the money on are (suspension, wheels, tires, RTT, and a low mileage F150)
@ROBOTON1C11 ай бұрын
Are you running stock leaf springs in the back with this setup or did you have to upgrade for the extra tent/gear weight?

Because I have adjustable reservoir suspension I have not had to change the leaf springs 👍

for your back seat cubby holes what were the dimension? My truck is in the shop and i can't measure it and want to get started on the project. Seems like your seat is in similar position as mine.

I’ll try and do a video soon showing more in depth how I built them! Here’s the dimensions. 20”L x 14”W x 13.25”H 3/4” plywood x1 20x14” x2 20x12.5” x1 12.5x12.5”

Did you have to take out the rear crash bars also to fit the 35s. Also what offsets are your wheels. Stance is great

Yes I did cut them out. It was super easy. I don’t have any offset.

Are the magnets holding your CB and hand gun strong enough over bumps and rattles? how would you rate?

Definitely 10/10. I wondered that myself before using them but they are really strong. I can rally my truck very hard and everything stays in place perfect.

Nice truck, I literally have the same truck, I have 2018 F150 5.0, Leer Topper and Deked System. I also have the Vertex 3” RC suspension and 35s. Also came from a Tacoma lol. My question what is your front adjustment at? Meaning how many rings do you have visible ? I am thinking of lowering mine for better ride quality, currently I have about 12 of the rings\grooves visible. I typically run it at 3 or 4 setting for street. Need to dial in for better ride. Thanks
@coleeades9 ай бұрын
I haven’t played around with the ring adjustment yet. Let me know what you find out when adjusting those. As far as the reservoirs go I have them set on 4 most of the time

how did you mount the radio to the side like that what size screw?
@coleeades Жыл бұрын
They are just tiny screws that came with the magnet. The magnets also come with 3M backing so you might now need the screws. I just wanted it to be extra secure. I'll attach the link. www.amazon.com/Magnetic-Holster-Handgun-Shotgun-Revolvers/dp/B07XCK2PSG/ref=sr_1_5_pp?crid=1A4SD7TNQL3PV&keywords=gun+magnet&qid=1691002668&sprefix=gun+ma%2Caps%2C280&sr=8-5

Hopefully this is me next year. Waiting on truck prices to be reasonable again. Have you considered something like the decked drawer system? Or for you use case are the boxes and Milwaukee pack out just fine.
@coleeades Жыл бұрын
With a tonneau cover a decked system would take up about 3/4 of the truck bed leaving you a small area for gear above. I have too much gear that would then no fit on top or in the drawers. Someday I want to do a truck cap. (Probably the RSI smart cap) then I will do a decked system.

Luckily the F150 has a massive payload capacity. One of the best in class. They are a full size truck after all. It’s why I chose it for my build! Had a Tacoma before and you do have to be cautious there with payload and GVWR.
@jmcwhorter1008 ай бұрын
Awesome video do you recommend the F150 or Taco I’m shopping hard for both thanks man.
@coleeades8 ай бұрын
@@jmcwhorter100 there’s definitely not a clear winner. It’s up to the individual and either way you will have pros and cons. My favorite things about an F150 are bigger engine, Way more cab room and storage space, can fit 35” tires pretty easy. It’s much more comfortable to travel in and can still be an off-road beast. F150 will do 95+ mph without even thinking where a Tacoma struggles above 80. So it’s just my opinion but I like having a bigger truck now that I have one. A Tacoma will fit on smaller trails technically without scratching.
