I miss those times.F3A is my favorite type of R/C competition flying.I just found out from the AMA that we just lost Don Lowe.He passed away this week in 2024.He was just one of the many guys I looked up to while learning to fly R/C and building my first pattern ship.(bridi UFO).

A friend of mine who competes in F3A Masters wrote this about Don Lowe "Just think about that. He was born in 1925, served in WW2 flying many of the classic planes, was an aeronautical engineer and did drone work for the military, retired to Florida in the early 80's when I met him (and that was after the design of the Phoenix 😎. Continued to fly pattern into the nineties and designed the P-9 for turnaround. I last saw him fly a big Laser in the 2000's. I'm pretty sure he was over 90 when I last saw him visiting at a RCACF contest and we discussed airplane design. Still quite lucid. He was AMA prez for a few years starting in the middle 1980s. A good friend, always fun to be around and will be missed."

Wonderful memories. I was fortunately to see Hanno fly on a number of occasions both under competition rules and also in free style shows. He was a brilliant flyer and such a nice guy.

superb as that flight was, call me pickey but as a former GBRCAA judge those stall turns were 'wing overs' and thus should have been zeroed!

Sorry! The camera waves. The wind was difficult. Hanno was the best.

Sorry Shelley .. but Hanno was the best and I met him. I also knew Binks who didn't have a snowball in hell chance of matching Hanno's skill. Hanno's flying was 'precision' to the nth degree.

Not a judge, but seems lacking a lot of maneuvers.
