Dom gets injured pretty decent in the first movie from the (comparatively) mild crash in that movie. In this movie, he escapes this crash without a scratch.

Cars, while very hard, have suspension that does mitigate a lot of the impact of a fall. Since the most lethal part of a fall is the instant acceleration, any reduction in said acceleration could be life saving. Edit: This is from Quora so it could be untrue but this is what somebody had to say about the subject... "Yes, I know for a fact it is possible. There was once a contractor I hired working on the roof of a six story building installing a satellite antenna. For some reason there were no guardrails on the roof, and only a small six inch lip around the roof edge. The contractor took one step too many backwards and fell off the roof. He landed, spread eagled on the top of a Holden station wagon. The roof of the car was staved in, but the contractor’s only injury was a sprained ankle. When I saw him disappear over the edge, I couldn’t even look, but I heard the thud when he hit and I was sure he was dead. I was dialing emergency as I raced down the stairs, feeling sick to my stomach and dreading what I would see when I got to where he fell. I can tell you it was a huge relief to find him sitting up on the dented car roof."

They could really do away with a lot of the physics complaints by giving the hood of all their cars some kind of Bond-like shock absorption technology that allows them to crash the cars or catch people on the hood safely and not liquify them like they would in real life. I feel like that’s the only time average movie goers are like “No way someone survives that”

I understand these movies arent to be taken too serious, but there is absolutely no reason for the audience to be concerned for the characters safety when basic physics is being thrown out of the window. They try to create tension when they are being held at gunpoint, but then catching people on the hood is somehow less dangerous? Stupid and completely unnecessary.
