Sudely, a blow away door of a plane doesn't look so serious.
@jjpoulsen01
@jjpoulsen01 16 күн бұрын
All plane have systems that would go off in situations like this telling one plane to go up and the other one to go down, neither plane would be told to do the same thing. The repercussions of the blown plug was much more serious for many reasons. One being that Boeing manufactured the cockpit door to automatically open in a situation that the Alaska flight experienced however they never told anyone that the doors would open. Huge safety risk and something not covered very well by media. For that emergency landing the pilots had to go off muscle memory because all of the emergency check lists they needed were sucked out of the cockpit.

@@forzaazzurri1471 Before any flight a preflight check list is preformed, usually by the first officer, to ensure the aircraft is safe. This includes checking things outside the aircraft, if you get to your gate early enough you can see them walking around. Even if it’s the 2nd or 3rd leg of a flight and the pilots are the same they’ll do the check list. Pilots want to go home to their families safely as much as the passengers do.

I don't agree. The number of flights is not an issue, I think it's lack of controlers and lack of training of those who are there already. On top of that, especially in USA, why do everybody have to use LAX or JFK or ORD? There's sooo many airports arohnd that decongestion should not be a problem.
@nightsta1ker1

I'm a commercial pilot and have been flying since 1999. I'm also a licensed aircraft mechanic. The problem we are having right now is that the pipeline for qualified controllers is broken. This job is incredibly stressful and challenging. It takes a special kind of person to do it. The pay is not commensurate to the job anymore. And with government funding cuts and hiring freezes that have been occurring for the last 20 years, it's only getting worse. They cannot keep controller positions filled with qualified people. The gradual privatization of this is only making matters worse, as privately operated towers are notorious for staffing washouts from the FAA controller program.

You notice how one of the planes on the dash cam video looks smaller than the other? That’s because it’s farther away, which means they’re not going to hit each other. Both planes were CRJ-900’s, which meant they’re the same size. The appearance of the near miss is nothing more than an optical illusion. Were they closer than normal, yes. Were they still at a safe distance, also yes. I’d like to thank all of the news outlets using this nothing incident to fear monger the general public. I hope it brings in enough viewers for you to keep your ad rates up.

The pilots landing realized atc told someone was taking off when they shouldn’t of.spoke up then Atc realized they’re mistake told them to go around and at that point those pilots made correction to avoid a collision. The video makes it seem as it was luck that they didn’t hit. They were probably at that 700ft away over the runway when they made the go around. It’s an incident because atc messed up but the pilots did what they were suppose and were vigilant. Planes can be close as long as they do it safely. You should look up parallel landings at sfo. The news is mixing issues here. This is a near-miss, or as George Carlin would call it, a "near-hit," in the air. It has to do with the actual flying and traffic control. The wheels falling off are equipment and maintenance issues. That other United plane that got stuck in the grass was, as I understand it, an error by the pilot taxiing a bit too fast when rounding that corner.

Its usually these private small planes being little nuisances in the air🙄🙄that was too close. I remember the one in Brazil where the small plane cut the Boeing wing off and the plane went down because the small plane didnt have on their location proximity sensor.

The NTSB and Brazilian CENIPA disagreed regarding the transponder being on or off. Shortly after the collision there was a brief radar contact that showed an altitude readout, which would be impossible with the transponder off. CENIPA accused the NTSB of trying to protect US pilots by saying the system failed for unknown causes. The NTSB accused CENIPA of blaming the pilots in order to avoid embarrassment to a Brazilian company. Both agreed that ATC had issued a bad altitude for the direction of flight. Something the pilots and ATC along the route of flight should have questioned. From personal experience flying over the Amazon, it is extremely difficult to maintain radio contact. I've gone HOURS broadcasting in the blind down there. The ATC tapes and black box provided the proof that the flight crew and ATC had made multiple attempts to contact each other to no avail. This was a perfect Swiss cheese accident chain that resulted in a tragedy.

You would be surprised! But think about…and I have worked as an Air Traffic Controller (EnRoute) that transitions to off shore non radar across the Atlantic Ocean. I’m a seasoned professional of 18 years so I’d like to take this time to shed some light for you. If a person is going to put planes together it will most likely happen at the airport because of the close proximity of the airplanes. It’s much harder to put planes together en route but it’s still possible because airplanes for the most part aren’t flying on random routes. And routes intersect. And airplanes want to fly at the same time in the same winds to get the best fuel economy. As well as working Oceanic traffic, I work a sector that feeds Boston, Newark, JFK, Philadelphia, Dulles, and the smaller airports in between. That’s 5 feeds to major airports of aircraft climbing and descending into each other! Don’t worry! It’s super fun when it’s busy and unlike what some of the comments have said we take tremendous pride in what we do! We are short staffed but it has nothing to do with Covid as someone stated. We are all human, and we all make mistakes. Sometimes you tell a plane to turn left and they turn right! Directly into the traffic you were trying to avoid so you very quickly need to come up with another plan! It happens, but I can guarantee you, we are all working together to keep the flying public safe! If I’m feeling fatigued I will use a sick day and come back refreshed and ready! 🫡

700ft is perfectly acceptable passing separation. 500ft is the average distance for planes going over Atlantic.
@nikh9080
@nikh9080 15 күн бұрын
No it's not. RVSM airspace provides 1000' separation for opposite direction traffic.
@realmotos6024
@realmotos6024 15 күн бұрын
Exactly, opposite. 700 ft of *centreline* separation is totally acceptable, for example while landing on runways that are besides each other. Aircraft must at all times be separated by 1000ft vertically, unless they are separated horizontally. The latter one being the case here. What is more shocking to me is that no one picked up on that take off clearance. having pilots asking “wait who is cleared for what?” on radio, mean someone is lacking behind and not having the situational awareness he should have.😅

Kudos to the American pilot who is listening and paying attention to the ATC communication with other planes in the vicinity, and having the situational awareness and then immediately responding to it (by reminding the ATC they are going to be on 28). It sounds trivial but it's a lot of attention to do all these things in a short period of time, when your plane is flying at a speed of several hundred miles per hour.
