As I get older, the complex drawings to be colored scare me to. My eyes and shaking hands don’t want to tackle them. Lol.

Happy you got something you will really enjoy for your birthday. I agree , it’s not the tool - it’s the artist. I wish buying more expensive supplies would make me a better artist, unfortunately it hasn’t worked 😂

Laminating is a very good idea.

That’s the best way as far as I’m concerned to protect your work. But if a laminator is a little too complicated or pricey for some people. I highly recommend using a spray finish to protect them.

Watching your beginning reactions ( well your voice happiness) lol reminded me of the joy I had when I got my Box a couple months ago. I really love my polycromos pencils. You can also blend the colors in such a lovely way with odorless mineral spirits or by hand , I’m so happy you got these, I think they are going to bring you so much joy. Ok going to finish watching now lol I just had to comment , also one color I’m not happy with is their magenta but they have a pink variety that more than makes up for it. Ok going to finish watching now! 😝

The only pencil set I don’t have is the luminance I think. I don’t need those, but from my stash I’m always reaching for the Polychromos! They feel luxurious in my hands. I live where they are readily available so I’m always buying them from eBay marketplace.

@@KristophersKorner Yes many have said it but it would be wasted money for what I do now. I’ve stretched myself to Inktense and Lightfast, both were on Amazon Prime sale. I still think the Polychromos are the best. I like harder pencils, I feel I have more control. The Koh I Noor Polycolor are better than Prismscolor in my humble inexperience opinion. There is no strange looking colours next day like with the Prisma like somehow the pigment shrunk.

It took me ages to learn but there is a technique to building and layering colours with pollyochromos. If you can get it right you can blend with these pencils beautifully.

I hate water too!! And I do have a few open stock of the polys and they are a dream to use. My go to pencil though is the prismas or the castle arts. I just recently did a inventory of all my pencils and good Lord i didn't realize how many sets i had. I need to destash a few that i never use. If i was to die tommorrow my family would be overwhelmed over what to do with my coloring supplies and books 😂 I have told my hubby there is a lot of money spent on it all just don't throw it all away. I know it's a morbid thought but still i am serious 😂✌

Hi Tinnia, Glad I am not alone on the water thing. It makes me nauseous when I drink it. No one believes me but it does. I also know what you mean about having to many pencils. I am most likely going to get rid of all my wax ones and only get the Faber-Castell's from now on. Yes, make sure no was just tosses yours out LOL.

See whilst you can get Prismacolors for a dime and a song, I’m in Europe where Prismacolor is 4x as expensive as in the USA and I get FaberCastell (FC) for a dime and a song! I love the Polychromos but I am also loving other European brands too but I open my FC cases and pet them and then use the others.

It’s funny how that all works with pricing. I can’t say that I am not going to buy prisma color ever again. I have realized I love oil based pencils, much more than wax.

They can in fact be purchased open stock. You can purchase them, for example, at Jerry's Artarama or Blick Art in the US, but wait until they are on sale. These two sellers can be cheaper than Amazon for art supplies. If you are in Europe they'll be cheaper, because they are German. In Europe it will be cheaper to purchase them at local art supply stores rather than from Amazon, probably, but ckeck around. Prices can vary a lot.

Just bought myself this set as well. I love them. Amazing pencils, and the best thing about them is that they’re strong, they won’t break easily as opposed to the prismacolors. These pencils survived a 12 hour plane trip in my bag 💓

My question, coming from a novice. How did you decide on the colours? Is it just a fantasy butterfly or from real life colours?

I just look at the pencils and then they had a call out to me and say hey use me and I do. Sometimes I do good picking the colors and sometimes I don’t. Lol

Kristopher, I have been using polychromes for years and love it. But if you need a amazing white get a Caran d'Ache Luminance 6901 Colored Pencil . The white is the only Luminance I buy because they are so expensive. I buy just 2 at a time, they would be great to color you puppy. There is a Derwent lightfast, but I haven’t used it. I loved you mattress video, I am about 404 pounds and it is great to hear from someone else who understands the issues. Thank you

What’s the point of the water test? Sorry but I don’t get it. If I want wet then I use watercolour pencils.

Because they’re not supposed to be water colored pencils. So they should not blend or move. But really cheap pencils move like watercolor pencils.
