@tetedur377
@tetedur377 17 күн бұрын
@@clivehorridge It's kind of hard to tell. The Navy took me out to California in '73. I stayed there until '79, then moved to the Midwest for schooling. When I moved back in '82, even in that short period of time, I was shocked at how California had gone from some of the most unsafe vehicles on the road, to where it seemed like everybody had a new car. And those were high inflation times. I know; I bought my first car from a dealer, and my first new truck (1/4 Toyotas over the years) during that time. People had discovered debt, and most people were in debt up to their eyebrows. It was disconcerting to drive around Southern California and see thousands and tens of thousands of dollars of automobile - either off the lot or, in some demographics, custom - sitting in the driveways of not much more than shacks. I was born poor, on the wrong side of the tracks; grew up poor, and was hand-to-mouth for much of my young adulthood, including the military. So, just because people look like they're not living that way, many of them are, to keep up appearances. Especially in California. If you notice, many of them have California plates, and like that one lady said, "the company will be happy" that Paul reinstalled the tow hitch cover. Which says that a lot of those cars are rentals; same as they are on Matt's channel. You don't have to be well-off to rent a car. Plus, as a former auto mechanic, people will do things to rentals they'd never consider doing to their own vehicles - including taking them places they weren't designed to go.

My dad was the same way. He bought a garage in '69 and I started working with him on his first day. He taught my brother and I a lot. He made us fix our own cars and anything we did in the garage he always checked our work and pointed out our mistakes and showed us how to do things right, 53 years later I finally retired as a mechanic. He taught us that if a job was worth doing, it was worth doing right the first time. I carried that with me through out my life and lived by it. He also told us never to follow in his footsteps and become mechanics. That was probably the only time I didn't listen to him. I consider myself very fortunate to have had a dad like him. Good morning Paul I respect how you are in the instructor role letting Jace and Landon do the work themselves in my opinion the best way to learn is by actually doing it. Have you guys thought about buying mics? It would help with the audio issue when you are traveling to do recoveries so people can hear you better. Just a suggestion

I like how you realize people that are stuck are stressed cause they can’t use their vehicle and charging for a stress moment seems counter intuitive to your service really like that part of it and Paul you’re doing an excellent job in my opinion forward it’s worth…. watching you teach the young and helping out everyone it’s golden man

I appreciate that you gave an honest answer to the catchy title of the video. I hate when you click on a video and they give you some 'gotcha' bs answer.

I'm so stealing your line when I'm out in the shop with my son working on projects. "I think I may have to go get your mom to do this." 🤣🤣 Killer line!! You're a great dad. Dad's like us that spend time with their kids creating memories and teaching them good work ethics while up lifting and encoring them with just the right amount of teasing are dad's that make great men. Keep it up brother.

Yeah and $500 bucks is still a ridiculous bargain. I’ll bet a normal recovery business would’ve charged a couple grand.

I think a good addition to the your off road wrecker tool box would be a trailer hitch with a shackle. Slide it into their receiver and your are good to go.

I've found with locking lug nuts its easier to hammer on a socket to remove them when key is missing. Some dam tire shop talked my mom into all locking lugnuts, switching it back soon.

I'd pull those locking wheel nuts off and take them back and shove them up that idiots....posterior crevice. LOL I bought a car a couple years back and the previous owner had put 3 locking wheel nuts on each wheel (don't ask me why) and after I bought the car he informed me that he couldn't find the key. I heated them up and hit them with a heavy hammer. Broke the studs off and put new ones on. In fact I replaced all the studs and nuts on the car. Then I took all the locking wheel nuts back and handed them to him. We both had a good laugh. He didn't think I'd get the nuts off. LOL

Definitely different seeing people leave but, it should be a compliment to fabrats that you single handed helped build and elevate a person's life in a family setting, that's the win to me! If I lived closer I'd love to join fabrats! I definitely miss utah/Idaho

I am a grumpy old prick, and I am typically annoyed by kids/teenagers in these videos, but Pauls kids are alright. Lan won me over by sending that buggy at Glamis, and Jase impressed me by bumping the crap out of that Nissan. Good stuff, Cox fam.

@@gregtotten2617 I mean most teens are pretty arrogant (coming from a pretty unteachable, arrogant teenager who's working on it), this is why parents occasionally show their kids up to show who's still boss.
