He has not been afforded the opportunities he should have had and was sent out on loan when he should not have been under Conte's negative crap! He is a very attacking orientated player, that I am disappointed Ange did not use him more.

Barnaby - I seldom leave comments on any social media but I needed to call you out on one thing. Although you don't come right out and say this, your comments often seem to imply that a club 'fails' a player because the player is unable to break into a starting lineup or acquire some other form of improved status. You often mention that players 'need to get more minutes' to advance their play quality or move up the status chain. And when spoken of players to be loaned to lesser clubs with the expectation that they will 'get minutes' then that is fine. But not when we're talking about players who are on our current roster. ...Although I understand that your heart is in the right place when you say these things - showing empathy for a player's plight - I do think that you may have the actual dynamic backwards. Take Ollie Skipp for example. He has had ample first team opportunities to show and/or improve his quality - and in my opinion - he's done that. But most of his performances have shown that he might not be of the highest level or possess all the qualities that AP currently requires for starting status - and looking at his team peers that seems to be the case. Regardless of his suitability for Spurs current needs, the club is not obliged to put Skipp above others in their pecking in service of helping him reach his fullest potential. It is the PLAYERS RESPONSIBILITY to show the club that his performance warrants this status. OR - if the player is showing enough promise, he might find his way into more games that are considered to be not at risk to help his development. But that is only for the most promising talent. Skipp has had ample first-team opportunities - and personally I believe he has shown that he can be an acceptable squad player - but has yet to prove he belongs above similar starters. If a player, like Royal for instance, believes they NEED to play more minutes than they are getting, then by all means he should seek a trade to some club that promises to do that. And if he is successful in negotiating a contract that gives him this then more power to him. But that is not the team's obligation. But no way should this requirement be taken as some kind of threat - 'give me more minutes or I'm leaving' (possibly Hojbjerg's thinking). ...Getting first-team minutes is earned, not given.

We need to look to see if our young players impress in pre season if we are going to throw money around. Bergvile could either play with Maddison or be his back up and I like to see if will Lancaster be given a go, we need to start giving out talented youngsters a go or sell them, no point having a good crop when we will waste it.

With all the talk of Spurs being in for a top LW, I feel like the elephant in the room needs to be addressed of where Son will play. It seems clear he's not suited for the CF role in Ange's system, and the thought was that he would be back on the left with a new CF in this summer. If a Chiesa/Eze type is brought in, does that mean Son stays central?

Edit: Southgate has left. The final was the first entertaining match England played but I kept saying in the first half how open the right wing was because the defense kept clustering & that they'd score from it early in the 2nd half if Southgate didn't plug it. I'm far from a tactical expert, even an armchair one; so if it was obvious even to me, I cant understand why it wasn't fixed the entire game.

I really wanted Doue’ but always thought it was a long shot. Maybe if we can get to stage where he talks with Ange he might think about it. I can’t see palace letting olise and Eze go in same window. I’d prefer to keep going for youth personally. Most people don’t want that butch do because I’m still looking at this as a medium long term project. Will the fans give Ange time ? That is the question. If it’s a super young team I think there will be more patience

Its not quantity we need but quality - I would blow the transfer budget on kvaratskhelia and / or offer kulu as part of the deal if rumours are true that conte wants him. Nico williams would be my 2nd choice. Season after season ( until ange came ) we seem to buy too many B choice players ( has levy written all over it ) over pay for them and then have to get rid of because they arent good enough . Agree with barnaby that getting players off the wage list will increase our buying in budget. Players we over paid for and will have to take big losses on = Reguilon,Spence,Gil, Royal, Lo Celso. 50 years of being a spurs fan i have never seen the club waste so much money on players since enic took over tottenham. Plus the way levy deals have cost us a few good players over the years. Eze for a start we scouted but wouldnt pay qpr the measly £17 mill they wanted at the time - now palace are rumoured to want £60 mill.
