'Face Blindness: The neurological disorder making it difficult to recognise your loved ones

Spoken word artist Fleassy Malay has a neurological disorder called prosopagnosia, commonly referred to as ‘face blindness’, where the ability to recognise familiar faces is impaired. Fleassy’s eyesight is perfectly fine, but her brain doesn’t register faces in the same way that most people do. She often accidentally reintroduces herself to people who have already met her multiple times, and has been known to ‘blank’ her own friends if she walks past them on the street.

My first job was at a store. I would welcome the same people 5+ times and they'd get so annoyed. I relate when she said she introduced herself 13+ times.

I'm thinking there must be varying degrees of this. I used to be very good at names and faces *if* I was able to focus on them. But once I'm in a different environment, I can get lost. I can be look right at someone and not "see" them at all. I knew there was a body there but not recognize them at all unless they call out to me and snap my attention to their face. I've had someone threaten me because I was looking right at hey in the grocery store and never "saw her" until she got right in my face to ask why I didn't speak to her.

That must be a great relief to learn they have this condition. It would be hard to get through life not knowing. And hard for someone who is famous like Brad Pitt, because they are seeing so many people, some they should know well after working with them, but also others. Like his 3 adopted children, but I wonder if he has it with his 3 biological children too.
