The latest on...Former CIA deputy director Michael Morell, a CBS News national security administrator, has warned that the threat environment right now echoes the period before the 9/11 terrorist attacks. But he tells "Face the Nation" that there is a "lack of a sense of urgency" from the White House and Congress, CBS News director of elections and surveys Anthony Salvanto tells "Face the Nation" that many voters under the age of 30 believe the older generation is leaving them a more dangerous world, with a worse environment and less opportunity. But fewer young voters say they'll vote in this election than voters over 65, and "Face the Nation" asked a focus group of 2024 voters in battleground states if they could be persuaded to vote for a presidential candidate other than the one they had already chosen. "I don't think you can take any of their words literally anymore. It's mostly political theater and comedy," one voter said.

Until meaningful campaign reforms are enacted corruption will be part of politics. 1. Eliminate all campaign donations and solicitations, including Super PACs. 2. Open Primaries to Independent voters (the majority) nationwide. 3. No more gerrymandering political maps. 4. Eliminate the Electoral College that gives 538 - “chosen individuals” the power to choose our president.

Consumer spending has not gone up. Gas prices are up and that effects consumer spending. I own a fireworks stand and we have been getting much less customers this year. I doubt we will have a very good year due to the economy.

You have no right to complain if you don't vote. A lot of people fought and died so you could have the right to vote, and the least you can do is honor their sacrifice. If you don't like any of the choices, get involved and run for office or support candidates that best meet your expectations. Staying home is not an option. You get the government you deserve.

I appreciate Margaret Brennan and her impulse to point out facts, but since it doesn't help in any way, it's better to be neutral and let them believe what they want to believe. These forums, when they are most useful, are not about correcting people's beliefs (which is impossible anyway), it's about listening to what they believe. When people are confronted with facts by someone more informed, they often feel humiliated. And that is counterproductive to the point of these forums. And it entrenches their feeling that the media "is against them." Just let them speak.

DJT signed four sworn statements promising not to own a gun or commit a felony as a condition of release on bail in NY, Florida, Georgia and Washington D.C. Will the FBI, NYBCI and/or GBI make an arrest for those falsely sworn bail documents and his illegal gun ownership that he admitted in his probation interview? The four judges that authorized his release on bail must revoke his bail and throw away the key unless and until: he reverses the 34 felony convictions; he is found innocent of the 54 pending felony charges; and is found not guilty in any new indictments issued for falsified sworn bail documents and felonious gun possession charges. Hunter Biden may serve more than 10 years for his single false sworn statement on a gun purchase form and the law should be applied equally.

Hmmm & not exactly above par neither. As Commissioner I should be paid one million dollars per week for the next three years. Our borders have never been "wide open". The reason we don't have effective border policy is because Congress has, for twenty years at least, preferred to use it as a campaign issue. This year, the maga congress members were told directly to refuse a bipartisan bill because Trump publicly told the world that he wanted the issue to run on, and ordered his cult to block it.
