@@davyf33 first of all, everyone needs to get it for herd immunity. Just because you might be fine if you get it, doesn't mean you shouldn't. And secondly, there are about 20 more vaccines that the average child of an antivaxxer probably doesnt get. 6 in 1, Rotavirus, MMR, MenB, HPV etc etc. Look at the antivax mother in this video talking about Whooping Cough. That kid might have passed away. 50% of kids with whooping cough under 1 get hospitalised, and 1 in 200 children with it die. The vaccine for it saved around 500000 people in 2002. As someone who was homeschooled I’m always absolutely appalled by the parents who are “child-led” with teaching - I.e. they’re lazy and just let their kids play all day. I finished my academic training to be a lawyer last year, and finished my masters this year. I hate that these people give all homeschoolers a bad rep.
@ammitthedevourer7316 Жыл бұрын
Congratulations on your master’s! If you don’t mind me asking, what was your homeschooling experience like? I was a public school kid myself but most homeschooled kids I knew had negligent parents so were often far behind benchmarks for their age range. I’m curious what a successful homeschool education looks like.
@spencergrice3172 Жыл бұрын
I especially feel bad for homeschooled kids because 95% that i've ever met are completely socially inept. not saying that applies to you, i just feel bad for most of the ones that I've met, because a lot of their parents are those that think they and their kids are above everyone else.
@shannonhill56762 ай бұрын
Same. I was taken out of middle school and was homeschooled because I was being severely bullied ( like to the point the school nearly sent me to the hospital). My mom was appalled with the fact I was struggling with math, couldn't write cursive ( they took it out of our curriculum), etc. Thank God she taught me at home. I'm now trying to get my Neurodiagnostic license and I get upset with people who give homeschoolers bad names.

I've said it before and I'll probably have to say it again: I wasn't an antivaxxer until they changed the definition. I'm fine with clinical trials and voluntary test subjects, but I'm not fine with taking a new drug that went through rushed development and has advanced risks for exactly my demographic. I'll pass until the traditional style vaccine comes out, and even then, if it's not my choice, I'll refuse on principle. I don't want to, and you can't make me.
@CamoCraft1092 жыл бұрын
@@armouredjester1622 I mean- I somewhat get not wanting to get vaccines that just came out, but it's been seven months since the first Covid vaccines came out, I think they've proven more than enough times that they are effective- if they were too overly dangerous to any given demographic they would disallow that demographic from getting them- there's a reason that children under 5 can't be given the Covid vaccines.

Having been a member of multiple facebook groups that facebook mums have lead heavily invested campaigns against I'm kind of split down the middle on pity and amusement. Like, it's sad that their entire life revolves around social media to the point that they take it so seriously they'll track individuals down, doxx them, contact their friends and family and oftentimes their employers and tell exaggerated bullshit about them in order to ruin their lives all over a difference of opinion. Then, at the same time, it's hilarious to wind them up and let them go off on a rant cuz you know they're gonna be fuming for weeks over it.

That homeschool group is WILD! My daughter is seven and all of the things their teens do not know, I have been working on with my kid since she was maybe two because it does not take much to work things like days of the week into casual conversation (which kids who have trouble retaining info are more likely to remember anyway) and thanks to Google, we all have the ability to show our kids where places are on a map if they are watching something from another country or something like that. Do these people not even interact with their kids? It's almost like you have to work at never teaching your kids some of those things. Also, to start with, the anti-vax stuff began with a fake study a guy was made for a pharmaceutical company to slander their competitor's biggest vaccine in the 90's. The guy who did this has long ago admitted it was fake. He has shown proof of being paid to do this and being asked to do this. He lost his license to do research on anything ever again as it is a clear ethical violation and as someone who has my Master's in the Science of Psychology (research and statistics almost exclusively...unfortunately...lol) that story is the first you learn in every class to do with ethics in both psychology and scientific research. But Jenny McCarthy, a two bit actress who is somehow the cousin of the amazing Melissa McCarthy, found out about this fake study, ignored that it was fake, and started rallying other rich white American women because they all wanted to "blame" vaccines for the autism of their children. I have always felt like even if we put aside that it is fake and vaccines are completely safe and we play along with their delusions....would they rather have dead kids than autistic kids? If so, they shouldn't be parents. Also, this American one hundred percent agrees that the rest of the developed world is leaps and bounds ahead of us. Moral of the story? Don't let corporations run your country through legalized bribes to your politicians because it is never in the best interest of corporations for people to be educated and have socialized health care and be in a stable position with safety nets and now, to top it all off, republicans are rolling back child labor laws so kids can get a job as young as twelve in red states. Welcome to the '20's....of the twentieth century variety. When ya'll see your government start pushing privatization of everything, remember that it leads to anti-vaxxers who are more likely to give their kid horse dewormer that can kill them than a safe and normal vaccine before sending them to a school where they might be killed at their desks at any time and if they live through the day, they can now leave their sixth grade class to go to their part time job for twenty five hours a week...but they can't have gender affirming care even if you agree and the doctor agrees. 😉

Quote from the internet that I haven't ever been able to stop thinking about: "If you don't vaccinate your child because you're afraid they'll get autism, why would you rather risk a dead child than an autistic one?"
@charlottehook73872 жыл бұрын
As an autistic person, it feels like a knife every time someone refuses to get their child vaccinated because they don't want it to be autistic. Same with all the efforts to try to get rid of autism that only end up in the child being physically and emotionally abused. How you can hate a group of people more than you love your own child, I'll never understand

They'll want a dead child because apparently all autistic people are the same screaming, biting low functioning kind, it's not like famous or billionaires are on the spectrum

I know people with autism who are just fine. Autism doesn't mean screaming and running around with a fit

Imagine being a parent though, the fear of your kid having autism, especially severe, is scary, in which people like these are tricked into the oils and that.

I was homeschooled, and I read all the Harry Potter books at the age of 7, so not all homeschooled kids are dumb.

7:56 she would be working for $2.50 an hour so average minimum wage in the US (correct me if i am wrong)
@orlafriedel77102 жыл бұрын
also Walmart would pay her significantly more with a minimum (i am mot from America so i may be wrong) of $12 so in all $9.50 more than that woman per hour
@evilinc3332 жыл бұрын
The federal minimum wage in the US is $7.25 per hour, however, states can set their own minimum wage laws, so it is higher than federal in 29 states and DC. Employers can pay tipped staff as low as $2.13 if that plus tips = minimum wage (which is why tipping is such a big deal in the US). There are also specific exceptions that apply to workers with disabilities.
