Speaking before a Senate subcommittee on Oct. 5, former Facebook employee Frances Haugen told lawmakers the company knows its products can cause harm and must be subject to greater oversight.
Facebook has come under fire in Washington since a Wall Street Journal report disclosed that the company’s own research found that some teen girls reported that Instagram made their body image and mental health issues worse. Nothing new here. Anybody plugged into the political aspects of Big Tech has already watched "The Social Dilemma". What raises suspicious red flags about Haugen's testimony is her overuse of the word "safety". Uh oh.....that's a Big Brother word.

@@CribNotes the novelty is it being presented in a televised congressional hearing with alllll the necessary receipts and in a manner in which the average consumer can easily identify as problematic. Doesn't matter if this was an open secret, it was still considered a secret. It will simply be harder to brush this all under the rug as fast as usual - and that is notable.

@@obcl8569 Still, Haugen is still utilizing military state propaganda buzz words in her testimony far too often. "Safety"...."Children"...."Dangerous". It's not impossible the NSA shut down Facebook to send a message to Suckerberg Maybe he's not playing ball during secret negotiations the way they want him to?

I read Jaron Lanier and decided not to use any social media several years ago. I hope she is listened to and her documents suffice to take action. (And could we then stop pursuing Edward Snowden maybe ... Just saying.)

@@obcl8569 How is this bipartisan? Conservatives didn't like Facebook banning the Hunter Biden laptop story published by the New York Post, why would we endorse government censorship? Parents are responsible for their children, not government bureaucracts.
