I'm always impressed by his candor. He's not a bullshitter. Progressive artists often get accused of being pretentious. Mikael will tell you, he came across the word nepenthe, didn't know what the fuck it meant but he thought it sounded cool so he looked it up and used it as a title for a song. He freely admits that he's not even sure how to pronounce it, with a smile and a laugh. He's very easy to like.

I never get tired of hearing these interviews or hearing Mikael Åkerfeldt talk. It's sad to hear that horrible things like what he mentioned in the subway or in the train actually happened. Im just greatful that he came out of those situations still living and breathing. Thank you again FaceCulture for consistently interviewing Mikael Åkerfeldt and im looking foward to the new album!!! :)

As an opeth fan, Im very exited about the new album, but as a Bloodbath fan Im very sad, He will be very busy with the new record and the project along with Steve Wilson, and besides his gowls arent that good anymore for Bloodbath, so its uncertain his future in the band, but, it does matter that much if there is a new opeth record coming.

Gotta love Mikael, polite, articulate and always honest. We can expect alot more great music from this man, and i do think there will be some death growls in the future...i hope :P. Maybe a healthy split would be nice, but he will do what feels right. Im 21, can't wait to hear new Opeth in the future.

I'd like to see him do a show, talking about records, record collecting, showing his record collection, talk to other collectors, what kind of gear he uses(cartridges, turntables...etc.) He'd probably say, "No one gives a shit.", but that's not true. Vinyl is huge now, and there are no shows about record collecting. Dust and Grooves is awesome, but I still think M.A. could do something special.

@wownov83 The Bible is a collection of ancient Hebrew literature, all of which written in prose or poetry, and within the biblical poetry there are different 'styles' used such as symbolism, parallelism, acrostics, metaphors, etc. Whether it is divinely inspired or not is up to the individual author and his readership.

It was intersting to hear mikael about religion. Not what I spected. He was very skeptical. Just because we can't see demons or supernatural stuff in modern ages, they don't exist? the bible and all these stories, comes from different times, magical times... Idk if he researched into the occult. I assume so because his lyrics speak about mistery, evil spirits and so on. My point is. Are these just fairy tales? or real man-made interpretations of the reality of our minds. I go for the second one.

23igna The bible itself is very ilogical, just read the genesis book, this two people that existed were suppose to be inmortal and the lived without pain or sickness and in a beautiful place forever And ever then god did this tree for them to sin, that was the god plan from the begining, he also did humans with all this organs and above all the inmune system... just think about it why would someone that was suppose to be the big creation of a supernatural being had an inmune system in the first place? and the other thing is adam and eva having children, just one couple to do all of the other humans. that doesn't make any sense
@23igna
@23igna 7 жыл бұрын
+daniela lls Yep, true it does not make sense. I agree . It's very illogical .But , maybe, it's illogical because those things happened 2 hundred years ago. We can barely understand the things that happen in our present times. We can't prove anything on the bible. All those stories are remember as that. As stories. But what if they were based on reality? Maybe one day we will know. I personally believe Jesus existed. And I'm not even a christian. It's just an intuition I have.
@danielalls
@danielalls 7 жыл бұрын
23igna well mikael gave an intelligent answer even when he wasn't interesting in christianity: "nobody knows how to interpret any of this books", he didn't push anyone by his side so to speak. I still don't understand what the bible is about but i don't care much about it because my main interest is science and how things work (in the universe, here on earth or in our bodies because we are incredible and complicated machines) so i believe in science. Also when i think about religion the only thing that i can see/understand are books with ilogical stories so i can waste my time with that... but you know that's just my opinion.

@wownov83 The authors of the prophecies themselves declare that they had a dream or a vision and often, like in the book of Daniel, the prophet then goes on to explain what the dream symbolizes.
