GO NAVY! I served in the Navy from 1983-1987. Loved every minute of my service. I am proud that we still have a US Navy and I am happy to see young men and women still volunteering their service to our country. Is this the same boot camp I attended in 1983? No it is not, but times change and frankly I am glad to see that the Navy is keeping with the times and modernizing. I would gladly call any of these modern boot camp graduates "shipmate". Proud to have served and proud that my Navy is still here. GO NAVY!

As a parent whose son left for boot camp yesterday, I found this video not only informative, but it was also a source of comfort to me. I applaud you for making this video to educate anyone with a friend or relative who has a loved one going into the Navy. After watching it I can rest a little bit easier knowing my son is in good hands and on a new path of life enrichment. If I were younger, it would also make me consider enlisting. Thank you VERY much!

I signed a page 13 not to talk about Battle Stations and here they are posting it on social media 😂
@NavalSrvcTrainingCmd
@NavalSrvcTrainingCmd 4 жыл бұрын
Morning Mark! The page 13 is so that participants do not provide too much detail as to what the expected wickets are for recruits to pass for each simulated event. All production that comes from NSTC and RTC public affairs offices regarding battle stations is first screened through the BST21 staff to ensure we have not revealed anything that could impact a recruit's performance, then screened again by overarching command before posting. As word of mouth and general social media posting does not have this screening process, it is safer to instruct participants to not speak of the events rather than to try and split hairs on what they can and can't share, especially considering we graduate approximately 30,000 recruits yearly.

Proud to be a sailor here, myself. I went to bootcamp in the early 90's. My first command was in the aircraft carrier named USS Independence CV-62 (It's been decommissioned since 1998), it was homeported in Yokosuka, Japan at that time. I've been retired from the service since 2014. What l can tell you all is....HOOYAH ! GO NAVY ! Keep on sailing and serving your own country and your family and do better and keep doing great things for the whole wide world. Good luck and God bless to all those who dream to become part of the greatest Naval Forces in the whole wide world...God bless you all, future sailors !

Navy bootcamp is easy, being in the Navy is the real freakin' shit, maybe you ain't gonna be seeing combat but i'm sure as hell you'll be seeing a lot of dangerous work and gears out there that could possibly kill or could take some of your limbs if not taken seriously but anyways being in the Navy is awesome! just be serious about it and enjoy every moment remember less than 2% of people around the U.S could do the shit that we do. Go Navy, smooth sailing

Great Stuff ... Everyone should be so fortunate to be given a challenge and opportunity like this. Look, Navy Boot Camp is all about trimming out the folks who can't or just won't rise to the basic challenge of teamwork, dedication and paying attention. The reward for this simple, straightforward but utterly crucial test of yourself is to be given the opportunity to be Great (no matter what rank or job or life you choose). Cherish the opportunity to be Great ... It does not come around often.

I went to Great Lakes in shape physically I had no issues. I run 10:00 a mile and half, but I struggled with swimming…before I left for boot camp my recruiter told me I shouldn’t bother about swimming and that they would teach me and I listen and I paid the price by staying there for 4 months instead of 2 months

WOW! This video brought back a lot of memories...and showed how much has changed since I was there January-March 1995. Not only has the basic training uniform changed (I hated those ugly dungarees!), but the "promotions" have changed. During my time, you started off with blue sweats in Week 0/P-Days (you were called "Smurfs" during this time), then got your green belts (called "booger belts") in Week 1, then your white belts (called "sugar belts") in Week 7. You knew you were a sailor when they let you get rid of the belts altogether in Week 8. We also didn't have Battle Stations. We had a day where we competed against other divisions in basic seamanship, damage control, and other events. I'm not saying the newer recruits have it easier; I'm saying they have it different than the past recruits. Good luck to all of you future sailors! Lee Martinez 1995 Division 167/Ship 2

Would love to tour RTC Great Lakes and see all the new buildings. They look quite nice. Bet they are A/Ced now. In ‘92, the barracks seemed to date just after WWII and had steam heat. Scheduled my boot camp in late, late August to avoid Chicago,s sweltering summers and brutal winters. But, would like to see the new boot camp and the battle station. We didn’t have that then.

John on wives computer. As a Coast Guard man I was sent to two Navy Schools in the 1960s. The Navy is a world class outfit and it is obvious that they give tremendous support to turning out good sailors from boot camp. One would do well to keep in mind that the recruit of today does not have the draft hanging over their heads. They joined for many good reasons and are truly volunteers in the best sense of the word. That says a lot for each and everyone of them. Much respect for them here.

Stumbled upon this video when I received notification the Graduation will be streamed live tomorrow. I enlisted (USNR) in 1963 while still in high school. One of my HS gym coaches turned out to be my Division Officer. Who knew? And the Asst. Principal was a Colonel in the Marine Corps. With their guidance and training, I was ready for Boot Camp. I was fortunate to be stationed on a great ship, right here in my home town. I just wish I had stayed in and done more. I wouldn't trade it for anything

To George: I know there is something called a rollback where if you can't pass a certain part of the boot amp process then you are to fall behind schedule and retake that part until passed or dropped. After the recruit passes then they can still graduate just a little later then if they hadn't been rolled back. Just what I heard may not be entirely correct.
