I suggest putting the cricket bins by the wall instead of on the counters due to the visually appealing aspect. If you were to put them on the counter, your cashier desk would have a very “closed vibe”. Also, since the doors to the counter are at the end, if one were to walk into your zoo, they would see a door (open concept), next to a big block (closed concept), and the cash registers (open again). If you had to put them on the counters, I suggest putting them to the side. So it would be closed, open, open or the other way around. I hope this helps and wasn’t too confusing!💙

So I am a professional cleaner and organiser and I got so excited when Emily said it's time to put together the retail area. I help one of my clients organise all their stock and product and I have to admit, it's one of my favourite things to do. The facility is looking amazing! Can't wait to see it continue to progress and eventually open. It would be awesome to see some features implemented for people with disabilities where possible too! Some things like handrails, ramps, potentially an area that has soft lighting and is quiet for people with sensory issues like myself as places like these can be very overwhelming. Also if possible have little buttons that people can press so they can learn about the animals if they are blind or visually impaired. I understand it can be expensive and a hassle to implement things like this but I promise you, the disabled community appreciates it a lot.

@@conlon4332 I think reusable containers would definitely be better, but that some people use disposable plastic cups to cut down on dishes. If you're going to be using disposable containers either way, biodegradable ones are probably better than plastic, but I'm sure Emily would recommend reusable as the best. I think you can buy some pet enclosures with built in food & water dishes that require a liner (I can't remember what video she mentioned those in, I just know she said she preferred their reusable dishes so they didn't ask for that option), and a biodegradable liner is better than disposing of a lot of plastic.

@@SnakeDiscovery Suggestion: to find all those little nooks and crannies and ways to shore things up, ask some friends that have toddlers to come in and turn them loose before you start stocking and bringing animals in. At the very least, ask the parents or someone that works in a daycare to come in. Guaranteed, they will find things that need to be closed, latched, adjusted, screwed down, blocked off, and in all other ways made safer and less likely for little ones to hurt themselves, the animals, or the building. Nothing makes one better at spotting all those little things than having to outsmart an independent and inquisitive toddler (or three) on a daily basis. 🤣🤣 Edit: Just saw the stools you got. So I have plans to be visiting a friend in Oregon somewhere near late May early July. It would be amazing if I could swing by Wisconsin on the return trip in order to check out your fully opened facility! I've been binging the facility update videos and being someone who wants to own reptiles so badly I've been wanting to check this place out ever since you guys started construction. Thank you truly for everything you've done, makes me want to someday do a project like this myself. So anyway, looking forward to visiting when the facility opens!

Be careful with kids and those stools. I can imagine kids accidentally falling off or the kids pushing each other to stand up on it. Maybe put a railing under each enclosure so they can hold on and balance themselves more? Coming from an accident-prone person

Having the bins on the counters seems like it would make it difficult for the employees to efficiently get crickets. Have you considered have the rodent freezer actually out on the floor? That way people can look at and pick out their own frozen rodents and you can put the cricket bins in that nice corner.
@madzilla68123 жыл бұрын
At my local reptile store thats what they have. They just have the frozen rodents in bags/containers marked with what size it is with words and color coded. Then you just take it to the register. It works great! They could even put the freezer close(ish) to the register if they were worried about theft

I might include this in a letter I have yet to send, (wrote it quite a while ago) but you know that greenhouse-like building that is in the facility? You should turn it into a giant habitat for animals like geckos and insects! There could be a walkway covered by glass or some other clear material, and information on the specific animals displayed in/ in front of the glass. Just a thought. Love your videos! GL on the facility.
@bodeyshier9943 жыл бұрын
I think you should put like a mini freezer then add a counter on top of that for the crickets so it leaves the counter space more open makeing it more welcoming to the guest
