What a great closing line!!! Loyalty, bravery, and heroism are things we should all strive for. Whether he is remembered as an enemy or a friend, that is very, very true, and it must be said of many of our contemporary enemies. On another matter, the physiology teacher (and unabashed nerd) in me would like to point out that the heart will beat outside the body, yes, but not for a half hour. It can only beat as long as it has a supply of oxygen (unavailable without circulating blood) or anaerobic fuel, such as ATP (used in seconds) or glycogen (used in minutes), as well as a supply of calcium and water. The heart tissue will be dying steadily, with complete cardiac death in just a few minutes. (We had a video no one uses anymore at my university of a dog heart demonstrating this.) And he wouldn't have been brain dead, just unconscious. Anyone who has studied te judo techniques of shime waza knows this phenomenon.

I think Wallace had to of been apart of the nobility, or at least his father or grandfather, because if indeed he was over 6'5" in a time when grown men averaged 5'0" across the Isles the only people of height were the rich nobles, barons, etc because they had greater nutrition generationally than the peasantry. This is why Edward the First was himself 6'2" and this is why Edward IV (War of the Roses) was 6'4" bare foot and 6'7" in full armor. The alleged sword of Wallace was 5'4" in length, meaning that a man between 6'5"-6'7" would have been able to wield it. People did not get that big naturally I those times unless you were having good and plenty, or you had pituitary gigantism. The latter I don't consider to be a good idea to consider because such a diagnosis in such a medically deprived world would have meant nearly instant death because the body is so focused on growing that the immune system is practically non-existent. After all, Robert Wadlow died from a BLISTER on his ankle. So no, Wallace if indeed he was a large powerful man as the legends say would have been someone of nobility at least in a genetic sense.

There are no limits to the BS that they will put on the news and tell people just to make them believe in a distant enemy that needs to be fought at all costs. Every generation has their Boogey-Man. They have to justify all that expenditure on the military/wars to the taxpayer who's paying for it all. And most DO fall for it all. It boggles the mind.

In his intro, he was somberly describing a murder. I thought he was going to talk about the murder of William Wallace, but no. He was talking about the murder of a sheriff who had been hacking to death unofficial members of the community. The difference was that he was doing so in the name of the king, so they were sanctioned murders. Then William Wallace was captured, tortured, and hacked do death after he was murdered (I know, I know...hush. I'm making a point) by the king. Truth is they were all hacking each other to death. Hey, everyone was doing it. Such a sad event, the sheriff's murder. They were all animals.
